My doctor recently rx'd Flagyl, instead of Tinidazole, because I am on clindamycin, which more commonly induces c diff, Flagyl is used to treat c diff.
But I know that tini is easier to tolerate. When I read the literature, they were saying that the chance of getting c diff with clindy as an out-patient is 1 in 1,000 (or was is in 10,000 or 100,000?).
I am REALLY good about taking plenty of sacch b, VSL #3 (rx multi-strain probiotic), and other probiotics.
It seems to me that tini would be fine.
I have primarily done tini before, although I also did flagyl IV before and was ok.
Thoughts? My insurance covers tini fine, luckily.

I have used Flagyl and Tini with Clindamycin. If you prefer one over the other and your insurance covers it, I would choose the one you feel you tolerated better.

To tell the truth, I don't know which one I tolerated better. The flagyl I only had briefly before and IV; this time it would be oral. I didn't have any bad effects from the IV flagyl that I was aware of, but it I was on and off it briefly.
I just know that I did fine on tini, and that it is supposedly more easily tolerated.
I think I'll ask the doc for tini instead, if he will do it. He did say when he rx'ed it that he wanted it for the reason I gave (clindy + c diff). I just think that the likelihood of my getting it is slim, given that I'm so good with the probiotics (and nystatin and diflucan).
