The only doctor that agreed to test I now realize was thinking C3 and C4. Are these of any value as compared to C3a and C4a?

Problem:
I had hoped other doctor would test but was told no. She uses Labcorp and I noted the C3a and C4a require Futhan. Blood drawn at Labcorp station and specimen must be frozen.

The agreeing doctor uses Quest and draws the blood in her office. She was not keen on doing the test but agreed to. C3 and C4 have no special requirements. I am not even sure if Quest requires Futhan - which I doubt the doctor has in her lab - were she to do the test I want ie C3a and C4a. I guess the blood has to be immediately put in tube with Futhan?

This would be asking too much of the doctor for various reasons.

How have others dealt with this and Quest and accurate results? Labcorp results pre-Futhan addition were considered suspect?

If C3a C4a is a no-go - should I go ahead with "just" the C3 C4?

Sorry so much writing. Hopefully any answers will help others as well.

I would love to know how many people who had a crazy high C4a (myself included) got normal results using the new method LabCorp adopted with Futhan...any ideas?

If that's the case, what a horribly messed up situation. I asked this question several months ago. That was early in the game. I'd think by now some here who have their C4a tracked consistently may have this answer.

I do not believe the C3/C4 and interchangeable with C3a/C4a. Of course, if the previous tests were invalid the whole theory was garbage and patients were ripped off. [Frown]
