I never thought to time the frequency of flares in my family member with Lyme, but I could tell when that person was not compliant with meds by the deterioration of composure. So you might want to check if that is an aspect of the problem.
I think there can also be an emotional sensitivity with Lyme itself. I felt it (when I was sick) as an inability to reign in emotions. So my feelings might be valid, but they were being expressed out of proportion. I literally said to someone, "Listen to what I am saying, not how I am saying it."
And for anyone who knows me now and thinks I am still emotionally labile, hear this: I want you to listen to what I am saying, AND how I am saying it!
