I developed tinnitus in April, after almost 7 months of abx. I stopped taking zithromax in June. The tinnitus has not gone away. I don't know if the zithromax definitely caused the tinnitus, but I don't want to go back on that type of antibiotic in case it did.
Is there an alternative to zithromax (and biaxin) that also kills the L-form of the bacteria?
Thanks.

Canefan, biaxin is another form of zith. I need an alternative to those.
Keebler, I have and have read all of those soures you listed. I'm not really sure what you're referring to specifically as it pertains to tinnitus and/or a zithromax/biaxin alternative.

I would like to know an alternate for zith as well.i am only on mepron and omnicef now because I am afraid the zith caused more hearing damage and worsened my tinnitus. From what I have read, biaxin can do the same.
I need something to work with the mepron. I am meeting with my llnp next week to look at options...

If you are looking for something intra-cellular (for L Form), the options are:
Biaxin (a macrolide like Zith) Doxycycline (a tetracycline) Minocycline (also a tetracycline)
Doxy/Mino aren't the best to be mixed with Mepron if youa re going after Babs. Biaxin/Zith are preferred.

I was taken off zith because of ear ringing and back on doxy.
Doxy does it too, even though it didn't in the past.
So my dose was reduced to 3 xs a week for two weeks and one week off. But the ringing has not gone away.
I am super sensitive to sound so it doesn't seem to have affected my hearing, but wonder if it does eventually. I actually hear too well.
