All I need is a peripheral line for 5 days. Had ports, piccs, hickmans in the past. Need the line for IV toradal and IV mag
Tried to usse the same infusion company I have always used. They saY THEY can't get maginisium citrate or IV toradol (they make it and stock it in retail pharmacy stores)
They won't put the line in because I'm not using their drugs (tha't because they won't give them to me) I will pay out of pocket
I'M AT MY WITS END, ALL I NEED IS A PERPHIPERAL LINE FOR 5 DAYS-I'M READY TO TRY IT MYSELF.
I'VE MIXED ALL MY IV SOLUTIONS BY MYSELF AND ADMINISTERED IT ALL MY MYSELF THROUGH MY LAST INFUSION COMPANY. CAN'T WRAP MY HEAD AROUND THIS
PLEASE HELP--ANY SUGGESTIONS, I NEEDED THE LINE YESTERDAY

What about going to an infusion center and having them put the iv in and they can give you the meds at the visit from there in house pharmacy.
Just have your md send them the orders and they should set it up for you.
I am in ca but they should have them in any state and they are usually associated with a hospital.

the only thing is I can get the IV drugs for the cost of my copay-so it saves me so much money
the infusion companies have already wiped me out of money-in debt and none left

Interventional Radiology at pretty much any hospital can insert a PICC, midline or whatever type of infusion access you require - needs a doctor's orders. Then you can get supplies and IV meds on your own - it is not required that you go through a specific infusion service if you don't choose to...

As long as you have an order from your doctor to get the line in, I don't understand why it would be a problem.

I did what Dazzle mentioned. The infusion service company wouldn't work with me to get my meds from Infuserve. I ended up going to the local hospital, to their IV clinic, my doctor faxed the order for my picc line, the hospital put it in, and I ordered my medication from the pharmacy of my choice. I don't see why a peripheral line would be any different.

I'm running into similar problems here in RI. I can get my 30 day ABX from my pharmacy at a very low co-pay rate, but I can't find an infussion pharmacy that's within my insurance network that will provide the IV solution, needles, Heprin, and rest of supplies, unless they supply the ABX also.
Can't schedule the PICC line placement without an Infussion Co contract in place.
My out of network deductable is a ridiculous $4k with 40% co-pay after that. Might as well pay everything out of pocket.
