I was looking into this today & I was wondering if the benefit of taking chlorella is due to the chlorophyll? If so - why not just take chlorophyll? It's cheaper & not produced near a leaking radioactive reactor.
I'm in the beginning stages of studying this. If anyone knows about it - please post. I noticed that Mercola is starting to "tout" spirilina. His chlorella is on sale right now. I like Mercola but he does sell products...
How about wheatgrass? Is it really the chlorophyl that makes these products beneficial or is it something more? It's really unfortunate about Fukishima but we still have to go forward with what we can.
My cat loves chlorella - guess I'm going to have to see if he will eat wheatgrass or something else...

I posted about the difference a couple of months ago. There must of many posts on the subject under my name & #259. Chlorella is a complete food. None of the others can take its place. Spirulina is a one-celled "animal", it is not a plant.

I'll take a look. We didn't have the internet for about a month or so. I probably missed it.
I just started to research this. It's very interesting stuff. I saw some photos of how chlorella is grown & manufactured. It's doesn't look good if it comes from Japan.
I read that the Sun company grows it in Bali but it's processed in Japan. I noticed that there are alot of companies that grow it in China these days.
Each plant is different. I think Spirilina is an algae. That's why the cell wall has to be broken on chlorella. It's a plant. More later...
