Mine was fine until week six (got much worse), but two weeks later better (over the hump). It's worse because it's killing the bart. If you can, stick with it. [Smile] Detox is so important here. Have you tried alkaline water yet? It helped me. Got some at the supermarket. Someone just posted about alkaline water about a week ago.

My daughter had worsening arthritis on rifabutin... which is similar to rifampin. We really wonder if she should have continued on it.

What symptoms of yours were worse on rifampin? Neurological? Joint pains? Fatigue?

Yes, doxy and zyth. I was okay on the doxy and rifampin until my doc added the zyth, then I had a bad bart flare.

I read or heard somewhere that you shouldn't only do rifampin because you can become immune to it, permanantly (supposed to be used with other drugs for bart). Sorry, Putnam, I just can't remember where, and I don't know how accurate that is (I'm no doc).

Maybe you could call your doc tomorrow and double check if it's okay to only do rifampin.

I would think that lowering the doses of both would be better than only doing the rifampin.

Hang in there (you can do it)! [Smile]

Did you ever had feelings of hate when waking up and almost through sleep. This is so unusual for me, never had this in all the years of treatment. I'm scared, it's like personality change, thoughts, want to come out the same I went in. just doing rifampin only for a week, then back on doxy cause were going away. I don't want to go away like this. [Frown]

Lyme in Putnam,

I'm on week nine of Rif with Zith, kicked in Doxy to replace Augmentin a month later.

Last five weeks have been the worse I've felt since beginning treatment about two years ago. Burning feet, worse than usual head pressure, and bad mental state top the list. Joint pain and fatigue on par with past peak symptoms so that don't bother me so much.

I too been waiting for a "peak" to get over this hump. I'm very discouraged with these slips. Seems worse than the Babs symptom flares during first 10 weeks on Mempron I went thru last spring.

I see my LLMD for 1st regular check-up next week since starting this Bart protocol. I know there will be no answers.

How long to hang in? Sorry gmb, I wish I could help. I'm so tired too. Maybe you'll get some answers soon, or reprieve.

Putnam, yes I did (hate). That is not like me at all (total optimist). Nightmare after nightmare. It's totally bart (maybe it's the rifampin too). Hang in there everyone, we will all get past this.

I have to do rifampin alone for a week. Minus the doxy. It makes sense rifampin iis a cyst buster. The last time I had lightning strikes in my head and i heard a pop i was on flagyl and I was more zoned for 3 mos. had lightning strikes in my head Friday night in my sleep, no pop, I was sleeping, and the last two days are the sickest thsy I've been. If its that bad going down to 150 till I see her. I hate slowing, but I gotta live too.

I too have had "the rage" or hate as yu have called it. Everything that you are describing, emotion wise I went through while on a Tetra?diflucan combo. It was MISERABLE. I was really borderline psychotic if not fully at one point. The rage would peak and then it turned to total Anxiety. It is targeting the Neuro infection. I am starting my Doxy Rifampin combo after Thanksgiving and I am dreading it. I have a month old baby and my LLMD saaid outright to nt be left alone. So my Mother, whom is also on treatment but with B.W. Formulas and is doing great, will have to be with me duing the day and my Fiance with me at night because the Neuropsych HERX is downright awul and get to the point of making one suicidal, worst case scenario. I am trying to brave going ino this but am not so happy about it. I am on a combo of Ceftin/Zithro/acyclovir right now. And I dont feel great but its totally doable. All I can say is to hang in there. once it passes there will be relief. The Hate will go away its part of the Herx. Keeping you in my thoughts.
