Hello:

I was taking an antibiotic for some time, and on rare occasions it can cause a hypothyroid. I stopped taking it, and my thyroid tests come back "normal", but I came across this disease and it really, really sounds like me. And FYI: I'm no hypochondriac here! :-)

Does anyone else on here have that disease, suspect they might, or know somebody who does???

Wilson's Syndrome is often diagnosed in those with long standing Lyme and TBD's. Our body temps are generally lower than most peoples, so it is not unusual.

It is not a separate "disease" actually, just a name for a grouping of symptoms. It can be caused by a number of things.

You might want to have your adrenals checked too?

Thanks TinCup....

I am going to proceed with caution on this; just like Lyme and TBDs, the medical community is spilt on this issue. Naturopathic doctors, and so-called "alternative" practitioners feel that this is a legitimate condition, but most members of the "mainstream" medical community, including the American Thyroid Association, denounce it.

But you put it in an interesting way; that from your standpoint it is not a separate disease, but rather a grouping of symptoms. I've done a little bit of reading on it, but I need to do more.

I would be interested to hear from other folks, about any personal experiences that they have had with this, or that a friend or loved-one has had with this.

Good for you! Research, then decide.

I had to laugh though. If we had to wait for main stream medicine to get with the program and use some common sense, we'd all be still back in the day of no washing hands, "bleeding people" and other barbaric things we now know through someone's persistence and hard work is actually the right or wrong thing to do.

My point is do what feels good unless contraindicated.

Yeah....I understand that there are some potential hazards if one undertakes a "protocol" treatment of this condition. These are of course emphasized by opponents to treatment. The proponents of treatment agree that there are risks, but there attitude is akin to yours. :-)

From what I can tell so far, it looks like one ought to find a naturopathic doctor who has had lots of experience in treating this, and someone who knows how to balance "aggression" with "caution". And it is a clinical diagnosis, from what I have read so far (i.e. treat for it, and if you feel better, well....you might well have had it).

I have had low body temp since contracting lyme and also have adrenal fatigue. I've been treating that with DHEA and Pregnenolone and my body temp has gotten up to 98 degrees. Not sure if thats related or just progress in lyme treatment.

I tried treating a low body temp using this protocol for 2YEARS!!! My body temp never would stabilize.

That's when I KNEW that there was definitely something else wrong, and started looking for what could possibly be the cause (I'd previously had a negative Lyme test.)

I ended off on this protocol because it obviously was not going to work. If you know you have Lyme, I wouldn't do this protocol, as it is not going to fix what is wrong.

I still take my temperature sometimes, and expect to see it come back up to normal when I am truly well. It's now running about 98.3, up from 96.7 some years ago.

Best,

Cass A

Didn't read everyone's responses above but Wilson's is one of the first things I stumbled upon in my quest to figure out what was wrong with me a few years ago.

I think thyroid meds brought my temp back up to normal.

Was Armour before it wasn't available for some time and now it is thyroid extract. Made from pig thyroid.

Most integrative docs, naturopaths, homeopaths are well versed on it.
