There was a post a few weeks ago from a mom posting about her child's strange behavior. I couldn't reply on the original topic, so I wanted to offer this:
Allophycocyanin (from Greek meaning "other", (phykos) meaning alga, and (kyanos) meaning "blue") is a protein from the light-harvesting phycobiliprotein family, along with phycocyanin, phycoerythrin and phycoerythrocyanin.
Wikipedia.
Bb may not be able to grow in eosin-methylene blue agar.
Eosin = fluorescent red dye. The ratio of that agar is 6:1, respectively.
Methylene blue has been brought back into use...now as a treatment for Alzheimers. It's called Rember.
Certain gene types cannot use methylene blue and neither can those already on SSRIs...serotonin overload danger.
Food for thought.

That was me. Thanks WPinVA. I am ollking into the strep potential.
The doctor we saw was not a PANDA advocate. I have yet to find someone else to take him to.
I am keeping his LLMD in the loop.
He did not have a lead issue.
His belly really hurts right now, and his throat, on and off. he has rogue leg pains. Still hyper and habitual.
Sad-

I've heard of kids getting worse on IVIG, not better. Scary!

Thanks Tutu.
I think that is a bit much for me, as I have looked into it a bit more. It doesn't mean it's not a good option, I am just such a chicken.
We all know how I freak out on the basics of homeopathy, let alone this.
His initial strep came back negative. Still waiting on the 24 hour one. I think his LLMD says it was a herx from TBI's.
But, I do worry about strep...it could be the missing link in all this.
I had him bottle tested by a women who had him hold them and got a reading. Not sure what you would call that. She said he had neuro toxicity. She said the Agrisept and Enula did not test well on him. She said that I may have brought something out with it though. She said that when he held the DHA bottle things realigned.
So, she has him on DHA which is good for neural impulses. The EPA or whatever it is called, I forget, is good for inflamation. Although I did orrder the OmegaBrite, we are on something higher in DHA. We are on probioitcs, and green smoothies.
I wish I could say things were much better, but they still aren't.
The Ped today new very little about PANDAS, saying she new of no one who had it. I'm a Lyme patient, and we all know the ^&*^&*))*^). But, it was clear that further investigation would likely lead to autism drugs and antideppresants.

Many parents are finding out it's ALL LYME, not PANDAS or PANS.
There IS a connection between chronic Lyme and strep for many .. esp children.

Interesting Tutu.
Do you have any info on that link between lyme and strep?
The doctor today said that those who are asymptomatic but test positive on culture are "carriers", and they are deciding not to treat them. This is all so complex.
Doesn't sound right to me though.
I can say one thing. It's been along time since we've had a "cilin" drug for any relevant time frame, so maybe I need to look into that.

I think anytime someone tests positive for strep, there ansolutely needs to be proper treatment- otherwise it can go (sometimes) into rheumatic fever, or pandas.
Agree 100% with Tutu about strep/pandas and Lyme connection- That is what happened to us, and how we found Lyme and co-infections.

Surprise and Lymetoo - Could you please elaborate on the Lyme/strep connection? I don't *think* my 5 y.o. daughter has Lyme (I'm the one with it) but she does have a hard time with strep.
I found the PANDAS info when I was looking into why her behavior has been so off since she came down with strep two weeks ago. Yesterday I talked an urgent care doctor into giving her a second round of antibiotics (Zith, this time) and I'm hoping this will do it. Fingers crossed.
2Roads - My daughter always gets tummy pain when she has strep. It often comes long before the sore throat and she can be otherwise asymptomatic. Strep is such a strange illness and a real problem for us.
Please keep us posted on the strep test results.

Oh and I'm starting her on fish oil supplements. The theory is that the strep antibodies mistakenly attack the part of the brain that deals with behavior, so the fish oil can help the brain recover.
I'm not into doing things that are too far out there with my five year old, but I figure fish oil can't hurt, and hopefully will help!

Thanks for sharing that about the fish oil.
That was what tested well on my son, despite the conversation about strep.
I am so glad it exists.
Hope we find some success with it.
