Holy flare ups yes. As bad as I thought the time of the month could be...being sick with lyme has shown a whole new beast.
When I know these days are coming I just lay in bed with a hot pack and ride it out. I'm sorry can't give you much more info and help but Im already taking so many supplements and antibiotics that if I absolutely need it I take 2 advil and that helps a little.

Ibuprofen is fine or naproxen or tramadol. I have lots of experience with period troubles.
My PMS has been truly terrible and very severe with Lyme. NOTHING worked (I tried a number of different remedies or supplements) with the exception of an Estradiol patch - I put on when my PMS starts and leave on for a week- it was given to me by my OBGYN.
I cannot express how much it has helped!
I am generally unable to tolerate any form of monthly birth control, however one week of this patch has does not bother me and in fact helps a lot. It's the only thing I could recommend. Best wishes to you.

Yes, i have found things that help very much with anxiety and general uptightness before a period.
Motherwort tincture, a quarter to a half a dropperful at a time is helpful. I put my drops in a little glass and add some boiling water and let it sit for an hour, then drink it. I also add chaste tree tincture and/or wood betony.
I like either herb pharm brand or eclectic institute for their quality (organic or wild crafted.)
It seems that really honoring the body's need for more rest and "being" rather than "doing" at that time is helpful as well.
If you prefer to take capsules, there are various formulas available, but i do not think they are as potent as the tinctures. I'm sensitive to alcohol, but can handle them after sitting for an hour in hot water.
Generally, oat straw, skullcap and eleuthero are strengthening to the nervous system, so you can take these anytime. The above herbs can also be taken throughout the month as well.
I like a blend from herb pharm called "nervous system tonic".....it was formerly called "avena scullcap compound"....have been taking it for years.
For those going through peri-menopause, all of these are helpful as well.
For cramps, these (all of above) are relaxing herbs. One can take "cramp bark". Mountain rose herbs carries this in capsules.

About 7-10 days before my period starts my muscles begins to feel super tense, along with exacerbation of my normal lyme symptoms and pms symptoms. FUN!
Taking birth control really helped my lyme flares that occurred along with pms.

Can't find my link, but acetaminophen BLOCKS the liver's ability to make glutathione, a key factor for the liver being able to do its job in helping us process out waste products, chemicals, toxins, etc.
Liver stress and "stagnation" is also very much connected with menstrual cramps.
the switch to acetaminophen might have fueled the increase in asthma.

Ibuprophen has also been found to cause kidney damage, even at a normal dose in a woman who had seemed healthy beforehand.
Just a note that both liver and kidney support at all times (and especially during times of Rx pain products) is helpful as our bodies have so much to process. Lots of water, too. -

Fish Oil (OmegaBrite)
Dong Quai Angelica sinensis) is a very helpful herb.
Dark Chocolate (85% dark or higher number, just an ounce can make a nice difference. Although it is very low in sugar, still best after a meal or with nuts to balance out the glycemic index).
