I have been taking Theralac one a day. I guess I never thought before to ask how much to take. Is this adequate? If not, is there a more cost effective method to taking more probiotics? At $40 for a bottle of 30, I can't imagine taking a bunch of these a day. Are there other probiotics out there to take this in combination with?

My daughter takes Theralac and then some other probiotics that I get online. PB8 from Nutrition NOw and Natural Factors Double Strength Aciodphilus & Bifidus.

There are so many choices. I just like to give her a variety of them.

Good luck

P.S. These were cheaper than Theralac

I use Body Biotics and Florastor. It seems to be working for me. Florastor, 2 a day, body Biotics, usually 2 a day.

PB8 is very weak.

get a prescription for VSL#3DS ..extremely high CFU count for very little $$$$

You want a MINIMUM of 100 billion CFU's per day. With the Theralac, you may be able to get away with fewer.

Hi All per my LLMD I started using Lifeway's Kefir Probiotic - Plain; I get it in the dairy section of Publix and it seems to work really well. Dosing is 2 to 4 oz per day. By itself it's tough, but I mix it with my Silk Dark Chocolate Almond Milk and I never taste it. ,,,just a thought. [hi]

Lymetoo, I was out of town for Christmas and forgot my probiotic. I went to a store late on Christmas Eve and remembered your post about VSL. I found and purchased this as they did not carry Theralac but it is VSL#3, no DS at the end.

Seeing that you have DS in bold type, it is obviously significant. I am back home now and have my Theralac but will I also be okay taking the VSL#3 as well, or does it have to be the DS?

I will vouch for VSL #3 and plain Kefir. Both help a tremendous amount.

DSL got me out of a C. Diff start during week 2 of ABX, brought me back in 2-3 days. It is powerful!

I couldn't handle VSL #3 (don't know what was in it that messed with me). I think you just have to try some till you find what works for you.

Lymetoo is right, I would go for at least 100 billion if I were you. My llmd started me out on 36 million (what a joke). Then the yeast beast came, and I have been battling it ever since. Ultimate Flora works for me (I take two or 3 a day--100+ billion).

Do all of you take your capsules all at one time, as I have been doing, or do you spread them through the day?

One early in the a.m., one after lunch, and one before bed.

I think I just found that DS means double strength. One capsule of VSL#3 has 225 billion. I've been taking two capsules daily but looks like one should be adequate?

Seroyal HMF Intensive has been the only one (so far) that has worked wonders for me. About $40 a month.

TWO capsules of VSL contain 225 billion CFU's.

the point about the DS is that it is precription strength and yes, double. So IF you have good insurance, it is extremely CHEAP.
