Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone took arnica tablets. Arnica is a natural anti-inflammatory. I use to use it topically whenever I would have muscle sprains or was sore.

I know they have tablets, and I have been feeling really inflamed (internally)-- like I feel like my torso is swollen. Its super uncomfortable, but its been since I started parasite treatment.

Anywho, wondering if anyone used it ?

Tablets? I've never seen this is tablet form. Do you have a name or link?

Usually, arnica is in the form of homeopathic pellets to melt under the tongue - or in an ointment for topical use.

Both have worked very well for me. Arnica is subtly amazing.

Here's just one place for the homeopathic pellets. But, it's best to see a naturopathic doctor, acupuncturist or another professional who has training in homeopathy to find out what dose is best for you.

How to find an ILADS-educated LL:

N.D. (Naturopathic Doctor);

L.Ac. (Acupuncturist);

D.Ay. (Doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine);

D.O.M. (Doctor of Oriental Medicine);

Holistic M.D., etc.

Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees.

Many related links here, too.

http://www.abchomeopathy.com is a superior source for homeopathic remedies because Amazon.com does not know how to handle/store homeopathy correctly.

I use arnica in the ways Kleeber said: ointments, both in homeopathic dilutions or pure plant extracts. I have been using it for years, literally.

I also use homeopathic arnica in MANY dilutions, ingested, for many purposes. And I love it. It has some anti inflamatory and I believe, anti microbial properties too.

I would be interested to know about whole plant powder, extracts, where to get it, and what are they used for.

Like Ledum, I only find it in homeoapthic dilutions, but already read that it works wonderfully well against infections as a plant remedy too. Curious there too.

I would be thankful for any information of people who used these plants (undiluted, non homeoapathic and ingested)!

Good point, Razzle.

I had been in a hurry to find a photo and name and you are correct that various vendors don't handle / store / ship properly and it's best to go to the top quality sources.

Thanks for reminding us all.

For many homeopathics, other uses of the plant material itself just may not be feasible or safe.

Wiki is a good place to begin (their illustrations are usually excellent):
---------------------

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnica

ARNICA

Excerpt:

Medicinal uses . . . Arnica montana has been used medicinally for centuries . . . .

Toxicity

Arnica contains the toxin helenalin, which can be poisonous if large amounts of the plant are eaten, and contact with the plant can also cause skin irritation.[6][7]

If enough of the material is ingested, the toxin helenalin produces severe gastroenteritis, and internal bleeding of the digestive tract.[8]

Homoeopathic preparations of Arnica 24X or more are not toxic as no or negligible amount of Arnica is left after dilution.[9][10][11]

Homoeopathy . . .

Species . . .

==============================

More detail at the various homeopathy or naturopathy sites.

the ABC Homeopathy site that Razzle posted is excellent:

Hmmm. While (finally) showering and getting it somewhat together for the day, I recall my ND telling me that how it was discovered that Arnica helped after an injury:

shepherds (others?) long ago notice that when goats took a tumble off of a mountain ledge, they'd hobble over and nibble on Arnica bushes - and then - like brand new get to hopping and bounding about fairly soon afterward.

Now, at to how much they chowed down, that would be a question. I think it is fascinating to look back across hundreds, even thousands of years, to both animal and human use of plants.

We've lost a lot of that wisdom but there are still a few people who keep the lamp on in that regard.

I have loved reading about the primate behavior around plant medicine to address their symptoms for themselves, as discussed in Jane Goodall's books and those of some other researchers.
