I would imagine that a lot of lyme patients have this since it can be caused by the onset of illness and is common in auto-immune type illnesses.

Anyone here have low cortisol or adrenal related hormones?

What have you done for treatment? What helps and what hurts?

I have this problem and most all of my lyme symptoms align with low adrenal symptoms, almost exactly!

I had saliva testing done through my Lyme doctor to test for adrenal function. The results were very telling.

Based on the results, my doctor prescribed three different adrenal supplements. I noticed improvement from the supplements within a week and a half! I had been on other adrenal supplements previously and never noticed improvement.

I had saliva testing done for the other hormones through a different doctor. All of the results were low. Based on these results, I was prescribed bio-identical hormone cream which I use. I believe it is also helping.

My Lyme doctor used Aeron Lab http://www.aeron.com/ for adrenal testing, and the other doctor used ZRT Lab http://www.zrtlab.com/test-kits/saliva-testing-kits.html to test other hormones.

I took pregnenolone for a while and it was helpful. Also, meditation via Holosync brand CD's has been very helpful.

Rhodiola, Ashwagandha, Eleuthero, Cordyceps . . . all good endocrine support. Omega oil, too.

Some need physiological (low) doses of Cortef (hydrocortisone). Not a LLMD himself, however Jefferies' book "Safe Uses of Cortisone" explains this technique used by many LLMDs.

Borrelia really crumbles the HPA axis (Hyptothalamus / Pituitary /Adrenal triange)

Some LLMDs can help there and also, I see the book below as a MUST have for all lyme patients, even though it's not about lyme.

This is a timely thread for me as I'm currently trying to figure this out too.

I started an adrenal support regimen a few weeks ago. I'm taking Standard Process Adrenal Desicated and Adrenal Support Complex.

My energy levels are better during the day after starting these, but I'm now having trouble falling asleep at night, and I'm wondering if that's a side effect.

WPinVA, having trouble sleeping could be because your cortisol level is too high at night.

Have you ever had your adrenal function tested through saliva testing?

Thanks, Sammi for the suggestion. Yup, I did the saliva testing and cortisol was low, which is why I was put on the supplements.

I called my doc and she adjusted the dosage, and that helped a lot. I guess it was just too high for me. thanks!

Eleutherococcus is amazing for energy and to increase cortisol in mornings/afternoon.

Ashwaghanda at night is good along with phosph serine (around 6pm or so you want those cortisol numbers dropping and staying low during sleep)

other supps
Vit C, B5, Magnesium, silica, b-complex, omegas
