the jaw, neck, face, ear, etc., entire head pain had gotten so bad i went to the doctor. course i had to have bloodwork done and bp readings done anyway.

the blood pressure was too low so he has changed my meds again. said 90's over 60's and 70's was too low it should be higher.

he said my face, ear, neck, shoulder rigidity was caused by "chronic tension exacerbated by my marriage and probably caused by my husband". he knows him and what i have to go through.

he has recommended massages and therapy, tens, etc., which the insurance will pay for.

i am also getting a new splint to wear since i have ground alot of my teeth off, the back ones apparently.

he didn't give me any muscle relaxers, etc., course i really didn't want them anyway.

is there anyway to relax these muscles without medication? will the therapy and massages help?

i can't stand to be touched so how can i do massages? i tried therapy before and it didn't work.

Have you tried magnesium oil? It seems to help me when I have tight muscles. Mine are usually in my legs, but I have used it on my neck and jaw too.

Randibear,

So, basically the doctor said you have stress.

The easiest way to get rid of your problems is to get rid of your husband.

Sorry, but I wanted to say that for a long time.

I had chronic TMJ, with pain in my face, jaw, neck, head, and shoulders. Chronic stress has been a big part of the problem.

I tried to manage the pain for awhile with massage and chiropractic, which helped to a degree, but it always came back.

I had an oral splint made, and it never did fit right, so was not helping. Then I started to be treated by a physical therapist...it's really helped...a lot! She also gave me some exercises.

In addition, stress reduction is part of the plan, so yoga is helping, and relaxation. It's not just one thing alone that works, but all if it together. So far, so good.

Best wishes.

Randibear, I know it's easier said than done but you are one of the members here who encouraged me the most to make the life-changing decision to separate from my very controlling, emotionally abusive husband.

I have since changed my name on lymenet because he became so crazy that he was trying to use my posts here in the courtroom to show that I am unfit to care for our kids. Pathetic. I have full custody of the kids and he is not even allowed to have them visit him at his house or drive with them. So you might not remember me but I can pm you if you'd like - maybe you will remember me by my old lymenet name.

My point here is, my life now has peace like I craved and needed. My symptoms are much less. I am doing better than ever (except for mold issues, but I am getting ready to move). My life was filled with that feeling of walking on eggshells and that likely made my symptoms worse.

However, I am not suggesting that your husband is the sole cause of your pain, but I do agree that toxic relationships make us sick.

Your posts and support helped me and my children make it through a major nightmare which is not 100% over yet, but I am free. He still attacks when he can, but he then ends up arrested. Thanks for helping me by sharing your own struggles and encouragement.

Praying for your recovery!
