Hello. I've been doing a fair amount of research on Lyme's and it sounds like I have a lot of the symptoms. If someone would be able to give their opinion though it would be much appreciated.

My major problems are (in order of severity):

- chronic fatigue
- constriction & tension in legs (like I constantly want/need to stretch them)
- constantly cracking joints, especially in the neck, fingers, legs
- receding hair line & thin hair
- often foggy brain & memory
- inability to gain weight (120 lbs at 5'9, 21 year old male)
- anxiety, shortness of breath
- dark discoloration under eyes
- poor balance
- occasional speech stammering
- sometimes difficult bowel movements
- dry/chapped lips, dehydration
- unfocused vision, sensitivity to light

I know that most of these symptoms fit Lyme's fairly well, but is it possible they may also be related to multiple sclerosis, hyperthyroidism, or a gluten, casein, or histamine intolerance?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

Did you EVER have a rash from a tick bite? If so, was it a bulls eye rash, circular or oval?

Not everyone gets a rash and of those who do, not all are round or oval. But, it's the first question to ask.

You can certainly be assessed for celiac and gluten sensitivity (two different things). But now that celiac can be triggered by various infections.

Next step: Eliminate ALL processed foods. All additives, dyes, sweeteners, sugar, simple carbs and fried foods.

MSG & Aspartame can cause all the symptoms you describe. Google for all the names each hides under.

"Natural Flavors" can also be neuro toxic and too excitatory to our nerve cells. They are most often not at all natural and can be very much like MSG.

This kind of simple food plan may sound impossible but it leaves you with fabulous choices of healthful foods, garden herbs, spices, etc.

Diagnosing Lyme Disease

Includes a symptom check-list; articles; consideration of differential diagnoses.

Scroll down to TIMACA's thread on "OTHER TESTS" as her thread is very important for what else to consider.

But know that many LLMDs do consider not only other tick-borne infection but, other stealth infections, parasites, heavy metals, etc.

But not all do so. Be sure to ask up front the extent of their detective "services" so to speak.

Hi!

Have you been tested to rule those things you mention out?

The thing about Lyme is that while the Lyme tests suck, there are good tests for thyroid problems, Lupus, M.S. and celiac.

But Lyme can cause thyroid problems.

Your symptoms certainly sound like they could be Lyme.

Have you tried an elimination diet?

I know that one of the links at the top has a list of Lyme symptoms. I would say it seems like the most common symptoms are joint or muscle pain (or tendon pain) and concentration/memory problems.

The only one of yours I'm not sure about is receding hair line

When did all this start? Did you have any of these issues before?

Do you do a lot outdoor and have you even seen a tick? (I never saw a tick bite me but I saw a ton of ticks). did you ever have a weird rash from a spider bite? Did this start with a flu-like illness? None of those are definitive- I didn't have a flu-like illness, for example- but if you had one of them it would help point to Lyme

If you really want to know your best options would be either to test (would confirm if it was positive) or to see an LLMD and see if they will give you a clinical diagnosis

Could also be parasites...specifically because of the inability to gain weight.

And btw, tests for Celiac are NOT as accurate as once believed...there is sero-negative Celiac. Same with Lupus - there is also sero-negative Lupus.

Best thing I can think of is to go to a Lyme-Literate MD and get a full workup. They should be able to help you sort out what all is going on...
