Hi !! Getting tested again for EKG and a ECO....had some QT issues come up before//

Anyway I'm to go in today for test...and just figured out why I felt defensive when there last time......
was kinda rail-roaded through everything, they had me sign a paper at desk, quick glance looked like just info from present appt . to Doc asking about it..

On my check out sheet there were request from Dr. for records from two other places . I don't think I signed this .......Or I didn't read the sheet as allowing this..

Then during test I was just pushed , quick aggravated answers to my questions about what was being done, Dr. turned info ,I gave him around enough to put me back 5 years ...

I need to know , does this affect test??? I felt mini trauma/attack/defeat type feeling, before ball got rolling to far.

The doctor wont be there today, Just testing, If I feel this way can it affect my results??

I went to PC yesterday and by BP was 24 points less than at this office..
Thanks, Nonna

Now what???? .

Your blood pressure can go up under stress -- very common -- known as white coat syndrome.

As far as the long QT -- I think that could maybe be worse but in general if it is an issue it would still be present if you were relaxed. I am not an expert on these issues though.

The reason for a stress test or treadmill test is to see how your body responds to exercise. I know that can affect things but not sure how that would affect long QT.

An EKG and echocardiogram are at rest -- if a problem shows on them then I think it is a real issue that would indicate the need for more testing such as a stress test.

This is not medical advice, just my opinion based on hubby's experiences.

Good luck with your tests.

Ask them to do the ECHO both lying down AND standing up,

as described in the literature in this thread that I hope you had a chance to explore from your last thread about this.

Good luck.

Yes, QT problems can be more pronounced under stress but as you want to see how your heart is doing under all circumstances, the stress of an office setting may not be so bad, it might actually help.

Just let your body present truth, regardless of the environment. Just be yourself at this point in time. Use your normal techniques to keep an even keel and then just let your body present the truth.

The EKG should be easy. You just relax and they get an electronic reading of your heart signals.

As for BP different at different locations, times, circumstances . . . that is typical. For BP, you have to be at rest for a certain number of minutes, NO moving, for the most accurate reading at rest.

Also, ask them to check your BP both after you've been at rest a bit AND then immediately upon standing . . .and then a couple minutes AFTER standing up.
