I remember a doctor telling me that on blood tests - I guess the ones with wide reference range - that one does not want to be in the upper or lower quarter of the range. Middle 50 pct the best. Anyone have an opinion on this?

Some of my latest labs:

Ferritin 38 (13-150)
Whole Blood Histamine 116 (12-127)
VEGF-Serum 230 (62-707)

C3 Serum 95 (90-180)
C4 Serun 25 (16-47)
CH50 Total 33 (31-60)

The WB Histamine is high normal range.
(Is this test mostly for methylation purposes?
For allergies - is this test useful - or better -the usual serum histamine)?

Was unable to get the C3aC4a - just the C3C4.
I guess they are not close to being the same tests?

In the office - the doctor said she was surprised by my C3 C4 CH50 results. I don't remember why - nor did she seem concerned seeing they were well within range.

To me the C3 and CH50 are very low end of normal.
That concerns me. Should it?

In general when doctors say low or decreased/high or increased levels - do they mean in or out of range levels?

TIA any thoughts.

With them in normal range I would not be worried. Even the high or low end of normal. Every test can be different due to various labs, time of day, that spoon of blood used, etc.

To help decipher your tests, this may help. You can use the search bar or click on the name of test.
