I loved rifampin, it's the only bart drug i can handle, but I could never handle the full dose at once because it always made my heart pound out of control.

it is a powerful drug! I started at 150 every other day and after a month of serious herxing just upped it to 150 once a day. Working up to 150 twice a day eventually!

600 once a day is crazy....Jackie....They like the 300 2x's a day but may need higher for this.
Anyway ,before they knew what I may have ..I was on 150 twice a day with 250 zith...this worked well for a while...
then ID doc's get great idea to go 300 twice a days and drop zith...and label it latent TB.
ID said 6 weeks then stopped me at 4... so of course I got sick as all get out... My pulminary doc came to save the day, but when started on 300 right off I had reaction... They thought allery to med...I did not..
So I called a second level to ask for idea.
Thought either bad batch or I couldn't take the fillers in the red 300.Kinda my idea and she agreed ... But,you know we really have no clue
So I had to hunt down the orange 150 mg and tried again.. could handle the pill,just didn't get the same effect as before .
Either sicker or cause of steroids or cause longer use was needed before change...
Rifampin with doxy and not late stage .very helpful...150 Rif x's 2 or 3 and 100mg doxy x's3
not doctor ,just know I felt human twice for a few days with this and some pain meds...a few ,not a lot....valium for muscle spasms.
I would do this once every 4 months for 4-6 weeks then come home and stop for ID's tessting and crash ,bad.......

I'm on 150 mg 2x/day (along w/ Doxy). I am slowly working my way up to 300 mg 2x/day. It will take me a while to get up to the full dose of both meds since I'm very sensitive to meds.
I tried taking 150mg, once a day. For some reason, I felt worse (extremely fluish) taking it once a day and better when taking it 2x/day.
I think my former ID Dr said it had something to do with developing resistance at low doses and once a day.
Hope you are able to tolerate it well.

Loved this drug (totally worked for me). 300mg twice a day along with doxy.
