Ok about a week after I started Mepron I got what I suspected was a cold, started with sore throat, then nasal congestion, then fullness in my ears (won't pop) and now buzzing in them.

It is a week and a half later and I still have the nasal congestion, fullness in my ears and buzzing.
I went to my gp and he doesn't see any problems. He says usually ears normalize within 2 or 3 days if it is from a cold. So now I am freaking out wondering if now that I am getting better some new lyme symptom is happening.

I have been treating lyme for 2 years and never had nasal problems or buzzing in my ears. I have been getting well but I feel like this cancels out some of my progress. I wish I hadn't started the mepron just before getting the cold to rule out a side effect or some wierd herx effect.

Can anyone offer any advice and help? I am feeling really upset.

P.S. I have tried nasal decongestants, antihistamines, ear drops, otc nasal spray (which helped a bit with congestion but can only use 3 days) and the saline nasal rinses.

Decongestant sprays can be very hard on the nasal tissue.

You might try the OLE nasal spray by SEAGATE

I can't really answer your questions personally right now, (and have never been on mepron myself so no personlal experience with that) . . . but that buzzing in your ears is called tinnitus.

It's very common with lyme - and with certain Rx. More detail and things that can help:

nasal problems are common for me. i think its the lymphatic system. I used to get super stuffy after I did a coffee enema. I would try to hydrate and detox as much as you can...and red root drops helped me too.

How about considering candida/yeast as the cause? How is your diet?? You're on high quality probiotics?

Honestly, you can have a full blown long term herx when you start treating with Mepron/Babesia.

It just sounds like you are having a considerable amount of die off and this is the way it is manifesting for you, which to mean makes alot of sense as in my own experience, Babesia really seems to inhabit and effect the head, ears, sinuses, upper chest area a great portion of the time.

Try really focusing on detoxing -- Alka seltzer gold, activated charcoal, Burbur... switch it up over the course of the day -- but stay religious for the next few days and it may start to clear things rapidly then..

Good luck!
