First of all, I do not have the results in front of me and don't know at this point which bars showed up. My good friend is exploring a possible(likely in my opinion) LD diagnosis after a year of health issues consistent with LD symptoms. She happened to have a WB test this fall after a deer tick bite.(I think this is unrelated as she's had symptoms for much longer, probably chronic LD)

The only info she could give me at this time had to do with index #s. She said that her index # count was 1.07. She was told that the number must be 1.09 or higher for a positive LD result. I have no idea what any of that means, but it seems that with her MANY LD symptoms(a diagnosis of MS was considered, then retracted this fall) and an index # so close to what is deemed positive, it must be LD. I'm sorry if this makes no sense, I'm new to all this! If anyone has any insight into what these numbers mean, I would greatly appreciate it. She is going to inquire about the different bars and is being re-tested so hopefully I'll have more info. Thanks so much!

The 1.07 was from a Western Blot? I'm not familiar with the new index numbers, only the bands. Someone posted about this the other day.

She needs to be evaluated by an LLMD before deciding it's not Lyme. Would be a huge mistake to overlook it.

After researching more I now realize that these results are from the ELISA test. Her results are considered "equivocal" and should have prompted a Western Blot test. Thankfully she is having that done now but the doctor should have ordered this back in the fall. I have given her a list of LLMDs here in Maine. Thanks!

that was my first thought .. those are usually ELISA numbers.. but someone posted the other day about similar numbers with a blot.

ELISA's are KNOWN for false NEGATIVES, NOT positives. So an equivocal should not be ignored.

and if the WB comes back negative, get one thru Igenex lab to be sure. They test for ALL POSSIBLE BANDS.
