What I know for myself is that I have skin sensitivity; when touch literally hurts. Apparently this is considered Central Sensitization.
My mind is too muddled to really get into the medical article, but thought I'd pass this on since I think those of us with lyme may have a higher incidence of experiencing this type of pain.

Great article. Very informative and interesting. I've had to wear little to no clothing at times because of this terrible sensation.
Ironic that the author is also an editor for sciencebasedmedicine.org - Founded and run by "Dr." David Gorski, who seeks out lyme, cancer, and just about any ill person on the internet and mocks their disease.
David writes that organic food is a scam. Every vaccine is mandatory. Most men's prostates need pulled at even a mildly high PSA. Autism & cancer have no cause. The list just goes on and on. He's a professional online troll who made it through med school and now runs a website and does boob jobs.
OH! To him, Chronic lyme is an absolute joke Read below(if you don't want to read it, just read the last paragraph):
David's been up front about his ties to the vaccine industry and the fact he's accepted money from multiple pharm companies. His website is funded by someone with an INSANE amount of money, even though he has a donate button, lol.
Sorry to segway off topic Edessa.
It's just so odd that this author wrote this great article, and also works for David. Maybe, he has a pink slip waiting on his desk as we speak.

Thanks for the follow-up post Droid. The more information about people writing the articles, rebuffs and additional articles are always welcome. It was a great article and I hope more research is forthcoming.
As for the skin sensitivity/pain, the only thing that has helped me is a prescription of a drug that is a derivative of THC. Works like a charm for the pain and also nausea. It's not really good with other types of pain IMHO and it doesn't get you high.
Now having a Lyme doctor aware of this drugs ability to address this painful symptom and have the willingness to prescribe is another matter. I'm lucky my Lyme doctor is knowledgeable and bold enough to prescribe.
Of course, it can become dicey if you are required to take a urine test for employment, since it shows up as marijuana. My pain clinic has no knowledge of it and asked if I smoked it. I had to explain what it is and what it's used for and the jury is still out since they have you sign a form stating you'll only get narcotics from their clinic. Heh.
PM me if you'd like the name of the drug.
