Two ideas: talk to your doc and discuss cost . Others here used Veterinary bicillin w/ no problems ( with their docs help ) .

Also, contact a compounding pharmacy and ask them to make it . My pharmacist in Texas told me he could make it inexpensively . I would check into these two. They mix powdered drug w/ a liquid - results are same.

Others here use vet meds of all sorts - they are just as good - pharmacy grade - I have 3 pharmacist friends .

How do you get the veterinary meds without a prescription for an animal?

I see you live in N. CA. If you happen to know anybody traveling to Mexico, you might look into that. I think they did change their abx no Rx needed availability, so you'd have to confirm it's still available. You're able to bring back a 3 month supply if I remember right. I had no problems at the border.

I purchased it down there less than 2 years ago. It comes as a powder and distilled water, super easy to mix etc. It was less than $1.00 per dose. You need to make sure it's the LA formula...sorry, can't remember all details, but if you search this site, I bet you'll find some hits with more detailed info. Good Luck. TS

Thanks Ticksuck, I was just going to ask that question of getting out of country in powdered form. I heard Switzerland, anyone chime in to get me on track.

I have never located a source of pure benzathine penicillin (generic Bicillin LA) on the veterinary market. It's my understanding that it is so old it was patented under a non-expiring patent and thus can't be sold by the compounding pharmacies. The best solution is to search overseas pharmacies. Alldaychemist in India is said to be reliable.
