I think that they are not making my favorite iron supplement any longer. My doctor recommended that I take "Floradix Iron and herbs tablets". My hemoglobin is low so I am supposed to be taking these supplements.

Problem is, I can't find it in stores and it is not in stock on many websites. I've even tried ordering it on Amazon a couple times, paid, then had my order refunded because they didn't have it.

I have severe GI motility problems (nerve/ Lyme damage) so I am hesitant to try another brand of iron knowing that they are notorious for causing constipation problems.

What brand works for you all? And doesn't cause unpleasant side effects? Tablets or capsules preferably, I really don't like liquid meds or liquid supplements.

Thanks!

Babesia can cause low iron, just to be sure you have been assessed for that.

Not sure why you don't like supplements but, to get iron up, they worked far better for me than Rx iron pills.

Thanks to advice from my ND at the time, the herb Stinging Nettle worked fantastic for me to get my iron levels up. It was amazing to see the improvement in lab work after I'd been on it a month or two.

No problems tolerating it like iron pills themselves, and Stinging Nettle also many other benefits such as calming the cytokine storm, relieving pain - and reducing "sticky blood" that in so constant with lyme & co.

Topic: What helps best for pain?

For Lyme-related joint pain, Buhner recommends Nettles 1200mg/day.

I have found Nettles (I use organic powdered nettle leaves) to be fantastic for relief of my joint pain - including the wandering joint pain in my legs, arthritic hand pain, etc.

Thanks Keebler.

Babesia has been a serious problem for me. I've been treating it but my immune system has not been able to successfully fight it off yet.

I have been taking an herbal supplement "Floradix Iron and herbs tablets" to help with my very low hemoglobin levels. It seemed to help keep my levels stable at least so that I could avoid transfusions.

My doctor did not prescribe an RX iron pill so I need a good supplement recommendation since I can no longer find the Floradix one that I had been taking. I also need it to be one that does not cause constipation.

Thanks friends [Smile]

The Stinging Nettle worked wonders and showed so on my lab reports. It is in the Floradix formula.

Nettle is less expensive than Floradix - though if that's hard to find, communicate directly with the manufacturer.

I can't seem to find their home site, though.

This one, http://www.floradix.net/ , has no contact details and no customary links to learn more about the company, so I am not sure that is actually the main site.

If you have an old bottle, there should be contact information on that.

Some stores can order it for you. It is a very nice formula. I love the taste of it, as it just seems so rich in nutrients. But one bottle does not last very long at all.

Floradix might be easier to find in liquid.

I like Blood Builder.

Oh, I forgot you were talking about Floradix tablets. I've only ever used the liquid, which I love.

But, even if in the fridge (as required), after opening it should be used within 4 weeks.

But, then the therapeutic dose has the bottle disappear pretty quickly, anyway.

Trader Joes used to sell the best one for me - no constipation as long as I only took one pill daily...but of course the product was discontinued by the manufacturer... So now I have been taking Nettles and my iron level seems fine. I hope that is all I need; I cannot tolerate most other iron supplements.

added to a post above but to be sure you don't miss this:

As with many herbs, different parts of a plant have different effects & properties.

Be sure you get the Nettle LEAF for blood nourishing properties.

Nettle ROOT is used by men for prostate support. Now, it may have some good properties besides that but it's the LEAF that helps with anemia.
