I'd like to get something to kill any mold that might be floating around the air in my bedroom.

Both of the items mentioned in the topic line are supposed to work for this purpose.

The propolis diffuser is significantly more expensive and I'm a little concerned about the long term availability of the propolis capsules that go into it.

Anyone have any good or bad experiences with either of these options?

Thieves works very well. I haven't tried propolis diffuser, so can't comment on it.

A better blend for mold, though, is Purification. The effects seem to be more complete than with Thieves alone.

Lemongrass essential oil is another good one for mold, but I think Purification is better (has lemongrass in it).

The doctor (not MD) on this site wrote a book which I found very helpful. He uses thieves oil and ran some tests. The site gives the results.

I don't use propolis and last time I looked I could not find any real data about it regarding mold. It is recommended by a famous Lyme doctor.

I have found thieves oil to be very good.

Hey Chaps:) Long time, no talk. How are ya?

I use a propolis diffuser. The first time we used it, I had a crazy herx (my husband more mildly, but definitely felt it). We couldn't figure out what the heck was going on because we hadn't done anything differently.... then we realized the propolis was something new. We turned it off for a few days, then turned it on again. Herxed again but more mildly. Now we use it every day.

We are not back in our house yet. Did a lot of work to remove carpets, remediate some minor issues, etc. Installed a new, excellent HVAC system with germicidal blue like and a merv 16 filter. All good things. (Don't overlook the importance of an excellent HVAC system. I think it is KEY to cleaning our air.)

In addition, we just bought an Austin Air Healthmate "Bedroom" unit. It is suppose to take out everything from mold and fungal spores, to particulates, VOCs, etc. We plan to rotate that throughout different rooms, especially in the bedroom and family rooms where we will spend the most time.

We are trying to do EVERYTHING we can to get as clean of a home as possible. We don't even have ANY area rugs right now. Clean clean clean.

Best to you!
Tammy

Airwise Air Purifier along with your Austin Air if you can afford it.

Thanks everyone for all the responses. If anyone else has encountered stuff that's very effective, please keep 'em coming.

Hey Tammy! Sent you an email. [Wink]
