I posted recently that I'm helping a friend who was bitten by a tick this week. She was started on doxy less than 24 hours after being bitten and would like to add Artemisia in case she picked up babs.
As I mentioned, I've gotten rusty with all this stuff. In my day, we only used Artemesia annua and Allergy Research Group was the one most commonly used.
Can anyone share any opinions on the difference between Artemesia and Artemisinin? What brands do most LLMD's suggest and how often to take it.

I read some past posts. It seems as tho artemisinin is stronger and a bit harder to tolerate.
I'll wait to hear from others, who may have some recent experience with taking it.

I would recomend sida acuta and cryptolepsis that covers babesia and bartonella based on Stephen Buhner lately.From woodlandessence.com

I take Dr. Zhang's arteminisin 350mg tabs 3x/day for 10 days out of each month. Your body builds a resistance to it ( I forget how my LLMD explained it...) so that is why you pulse it.
Will your friend do anything for possible bartonella, too? Are they going to visit an LLMD at all just in case they may have co-infections?

Thank you again. May be the sida acuta and cryptolepsis is the better way to go.
Right now she just saw her GP and managed to get a decent script for doxy at a decent dose. Since she was bitten and treated ASAP, we're hoping for the best.
Having been recently laid off and with no medical insurance, it is financially difficult right now for her plus it would take a long while to get into see any LLMD in her area. No testing would show any thing so soon after a bite.
I'm helping her, with all of your help too, and we will see how things go. I have some ideas and it's possible that she won't need an LLMD since she was treated pretty much shortly after the bite and with any luck the tick was not infected It was a dog tick, tho I do know they transmit disease.
I guess this is a work in progress that we will monitor and she will be in touch with the local lyme support group.
We welcome any other suggestions and thoughts you may have.
