Other than Mepron, Malarone and Plaquenil, are there any other options to combine with Bactrim/Septra?
I cannot take atovaquone and I'm looking for something to combine with Bactrim that is relatively low risk in terms of liver involvement and other permanent side effects like those associated with Plaquenil.
Has anyone used artemisinin with bactrim and does artemisinin have a high risk of detrimental liver effects?

I pulse arteminisin 350mg 3x/day for 10 days out of each month and if anything, it makes me feel better! I just added malarone in with it. I feel like my babs symptoms are dwindling relatively quickly.
All of my liver enzymes are fine and I take a liver herbal support that includes milk thistle, dandelion, artichoke etc... no probs yet *knock on wood

Larae30 - Some LLMD's don't like adding milk thistle with malarone-it decreases the concentration.

I got rid of babs 7 years ago by taking bactrim DS and pulsing artemesinin Friday through Sunday of each week during my babs flares.
I took the art on an empty stomach twice per day, per doc's orders. The brand matters also. I forget the brand I used right now.
I don't remember getting my liver tested on this combo. I was on it for 11 months. So it must not be necessary.
