I was on Bicillin LA, once a week injections.
My Dr Is now switching me to Rocephin IM, because he went to a conference this past week and the lyme specialist (I believe he said was from Missouri) stated that Rocephin was the new drug of choice.
LOL... we all new that Rocephen is a good abx for lyme. Not news to me.
But, what I'm not sure of is what dosage is normal for IM Rocephin? Or at least how often do you get these shots weekly?
I didn't think of asking at the time what the dose of Rocephin was... I go back next week. But, it was mixed with 2.4mL lidocaine in case that helps.... So, from what ive read, i believe it was probably 1 gram.

My Dr only has me doing one shot a week. In the past he has been extremly under treating me. I am basically wondering if he is doing the same thing with this. I figure that he is. Just want to confirm it I guess

Rocephin has a very short life, i do the shots every other day....once a week will def not be effective, you don't even do Bicillin once a week and thats long lasting.
I would question your Dr seeing as how he just found out about Roecephin....having a Dr who doesn't treat you properly is only going to make you sicker....for longer time...i know from experience.

Thank you for your response. Thats what I figured. I haven't had time to do much research on it... Yet.
I will try to find out more before I go back to him next week. I have searched thru the search function here, and didnt seem to have much luck finding info I wanted. Found lots of posts, but didn't seem to find ones saying how often, or protocols etc.
Most were about IV Rocephin, and the ones on IM Rocephin were about the pain involved with them.
Thank you again.
Any one else??
