Does anyone know: does an IgG positive ELISA test for Anaplasma necessarily indicate current infection vs past exposure? MDL was the testing lab. It was quite a bit over the positive index.

I've tested positive for it repeatedly via different labs and methods,WB, too, over many years, with one negative test at one point. I've had treatment for it, but not exhaustively, and have had another bite or two along the way.

I believe I probably never got rid of it. Any feedback from others?

I do have horrific daily migraines/headaches, and I think Lyme and Babesia are the biggest players there, but it may well add to the mix. I also ALWAYS am way below the lab levels for white blood cell levels (another sign of it). Guess I have the answer I already knew!

Next question: I think I need to hit it hard and long, not just with a month of low-level doxy, which is all I got. That certainly hasn't done it before.

Who has had it long-term and gotten rid of it? What dosage did you do for how long? IV or oral? If it is better, PM me, of course.

Don't understand this result. IgG is associated with antibodies. PCR looks for antigens.

So, is it possible to have a pcr for IgG antibody? I would have thought not.

Rumigirl,

This is probably not much of an answer, but hubby seems to be dealing with a similar issue.

He had never had positive tests until last summer when he started running the fevers after trying IV flagyl.

Anyway -- last summer he had positive low level antibody tests for 2 or maybe 3 different species of anaplasma/ehrlichia. His LLMD said there should not be cross reaction between the different apecies he tested positive for. All his antibodies were IgM I think. But then Clongen saw something (swarming bacteria) attacking his WBC on 2 different tests a month apart.

Hubby treated with 400 mg doxy for 4 months (or maybe it was 6 months -- need to look at my notes)-- do not think it is gone. He tried adding in rifampin but at the time it seemed to lower the levels of his babs meds too much so that only lasted about a week.

Hubby is now on Day 18 off of all antibiotics, antimalarials, and antiparasitcs and killing herbs. Surprisingly his babs symptoms are very slow in coming back. But his WBC are dropping and are low again. They had gone back to normal finally.

Hubby is convinced that the combo of sida acuta and ivermectin added to all his other meds is what seems to have knocked down the babesia and also it was what raised the WBC.

So most likely whatever we do in the future will include those 2 items.

We are planning to retest the babesia and ehrlichia/anaplasma with 2 or 3 different labs and then try to come up with a new plan -- wanted to wait 4 weeks off meds if possible.

Other than doxy with rifampin I haven't been able to find much in the way of treatment options for ehrlichia/anaplasma. Buhner has some herbs that might work but even he can't locate a source for them.

Bea Seibert

P.S. The dose of ivermectin that seemed to raise the WBC was very high -- hubby had thought the ivermectin was helping so his LLMD said to double the dose. Hubby did 12 mg 3 days per week for 3 weeks I think and then I increased it to 18 mg 3 days per week the last 2 weeks.

Wowee, Bea, the Ivermectin sounds golden! And the sida acuta sounds good, too. Could you talk more about his experience of those two.

For instance, what dosages did he do of Sida Acuta (if you can say here, if not, can you PM me?), what dosage did he start with on the Ivermectin? And did he have much in the way of herxes, side-effects with either.

Also, I forgot that Rifampin could lower the Babs meds levels, too---argh! I HAVE to have strong Babs meds now. That need trumps the Bart and Anaplasma, in my experience, although I need both. Unless it's the Fry bug that seems like the Babesia symptoms.

Oh, sorry, Poppy, I got it wrong. It wasn't PCR, it was an ELISA IgG.

Hoping for another answer from Bea and more feedback from others. (Bea, your mailbox is full, as usual---not that you don't have a full plate as it is).
