Just about ready to order Allimax and read about garlic and tinnitus. My ears are already killing me - tinnitus etc - so garlic is a no-no?
The supplements I have bought and used sporadically apparently don't have Allicin? W/O Allicin there is no benefit at all? Still a contributor to tinnitus?
My "NOW" "Super Odorless Garlic" per capsule; Allium 50 mg., Hawthorn Extract 100 mg., Hawthorn Berry 250 mg., and Cayenne Pepper 100 mg. I did not read the label before - had thought the capsules were all garlic. Weird.
Re: Detox One can take activated charcoal once daily - to time around meds - and also Apple Pectin other times of the same day? AP has a less restrictive window in regards to meds/supps, right?

- First, I've read from top sources that odorless capsules are not effective for our needs. The very thing that causes the odor is what makes it so valuable.
I spent years, on and off, taking odorless garlic, an excellent brand. I saw little, if any effect.
Quite the opposite with Zhang's protocol which as the very best Allicin I've found. I did very well when on that protocol for a few months, two different times.
Although it did raise tinnitus for me, I found ways to balance that out. I would have continued but it was just not in the budget.
Allimax is also very good. And BioPure, too. Still, I found Zhang's Hepapro the very best.
To offset the odor, chlorophyll liquid or other green powders can be very helpful. Spirulina &/or Chlorella are tops in many ways.
However,
Allicin certainly did raise tinnitus for me.
It could be because it contains salicylic acid and that is known to exacerbate tinnitus.
Salicylic acid / asprin can cause or increase tinnitus. So, it's a double edged sword for some as allicin is a fabulous herb in so many ways.
Some of the tinnitus reaction could be from a herxheimer reaction, so being sure liver support is on board may help reduce tinnitus.
Garlic is also a "hot" plant/herb and is somewhat stimulatory to the system. Those things that are such to me, also stimulate my ears too much to my liking.
My ears did much better with Andrographis or Olive Leaf Extract (OLE). These are both "cool" plants/herbs. More calming in nature.
But, not everyone can tolerate andrographis and it does make me incredibly sleepy & tired.
OLE is neither too stimulating nor sedating to me. SEAGATE is the best brand. Myrolea-B by White Tiger, an excellent formula with OLE.
Now, if you really need the allicin, it can be paired with a cooler, calming herb and that may offset the stimulatory effects.
KUDZU capsules have also helped me better tolerate allicin when I really needed it.
More detail here - I recall posting about this very thing somewhere here: ----------------------------
