I have a friend whose sister, (age 50), has had colon cancer for 3 1/2 years.
She has been through 2 surgeries, alot of chemo, etc.
The cancer spread to her liver. She had tumors removed from her liver in Dec.
She is very weak and jaundiced now. Her Dr said she cannot tolerate any more chemo.
Her family is desperate, especially since her children are still school age.
She is taking milk thistle and meds for depression, pain etc.
Does anyone know the best, strongest supplements that have been shown to kill colon cancer cells?

So sorry to hear all this!
I do not offer herbs (as I don't know), but will share this with you.
Go to this link and look at the selection at the bottom. Click on the "Cancer Doxycycline Studies".

Hulda Clark believes that parasites, toxins etc are the cause of all cancer. She has a book called "The Cure For All Cancer"
Might be worth reading and looking into. What about an appt with Dr. K.?

Graviola is being studied for the treatment of various types of cancer including colon.
Research has indicated, albeit in vitro, that several of the active ingredients (Annonaceous acetogenins) kill malignant cells of 12 different types of cancer including breast, ovarian, colon, prostate, liver, lung, pancreatic and lymphoma.
Originally listed by the National Cancer Institute in the USA in 1976, it was not until 1995 that work gained any momentum.
The NCI now supports the Purdue research. Recently this has confirmed that extracts from Graviola leaves killed cancer cells among six human-cell lines and were especially effective against prostate and pancreatic cancers. Another study showed their effect against lung cancer.

GcMAF, used by some for lyme, has been in use for cancer much longer, mostly in europe. It is human derived protein that is used to bind vitamin D to macrophages so the macrophages can do their job and scoop up the buggies.
When I used it, I bought it from gcmaf.eu. Biopure EUROPE (not the USA Biopure) also makes/sells a homeopathic, HomeoK GcMAF, although a well-known lyme doc and would suspect people with cancer would need the real thing, and that would be my guess as well.

- I think it will be nearly impossible to figure this out on her own.
Milk Thistle may not be the best choice for her as it can be very hard for those who are most ill to tolerate. There are many other choices.
An expert who is educated in this field is best.
Now, your friend may not need a LL ND but they can use the same links here to find a ND - and then filter that search for one who is has become expert in cancer care.
You might first start with a local search and then find out which NDs in your area have gone on to study cancer.
RIFE is where I would also start. Many NDs know about Rife, especially those well versed in cancer care. A comprehensive protocol is best.
There may be some rife machines in town, maybe some NDs have them in their offices, etc.
Corydalis, an herb used for pain relief, may also be something to ask a ND about. -

Call the Gerson Clinic in CA.
Isn't it wonderful to get so many answers, Dek? You people have hearts of gold.
I'd like to speak for all of you but my mom taught me to speak only for myself so I will.
My own illness has given me a heart for the suffering of others. And that's something to be thankful for.

Look into AHCC. From what I've read, this can help chemo patients alot, they don't lose their hair either.
AHCC is a nutritional food supplement developed using a patented process from the mycelia of several species of mushrooms including the shiitake mushroom.
Human clinical studies have shown that AHCC significantly improves immune response, increases and maintains normal NK cell activity, and enhances macrophage and T-Cell activity.

I just got this in an email today...
-------------- " . . .a miracle food that kills cancer better than chemo, as proven by the seven-time Nobel Prize nominee who discovered it. . .
. . .a miracle food that gives cancer patients more energy and zest for life...
. . . a miracle food that "liquidates" cancer - melting it away without causing side effects...
. . .a miracle food that astonishes conventional doctors, like the ones below...
"Terminal" lung cancer melted away naturally: The doctor gave no hope to 80-year-old Beulah from South Carolina. He said, "We have no treatment for you. You have six months to live." During a follow-up exam two months later, the doctor asked, "What's going on" The cancer is melting away!" Another doctor compared her before-and-after X-rays and said, "This can't be the same woman. There's no cancer here!"
"Terminal" brain cancer melted away naturally: Seventh-generation Louisiana plantation owner Richard L. checked into a hospice a place where you go to wait for death after a doctor gave him "two months to live." When Richard learned about the miracle food he checked out of the hospice and treated his cancer at home! Four years later he was alive and well, gladly sharing his health secret with anyone willing to listen.
"Terminal" breast cancer melted away naturally: A doctor from Little Rock, Arkansas, gave Sandra G. "two months to live." But this doctor was stunned to learn that Sandra got rid of her cancer at home." ------------------
"Amazingly, Dr. Budwig found that after only three short months on her budwig flax oil-quark combination, cancer patients began to improve. In some cases, tumors shrunk in size. She was even able to help the patients whose doctors had told to "go home and get your affairs in order". "
btw - German "quark" is something between yogurt and cottage cheese. I'm pretty sure you can get it at Wegmans though.

I don't think a liver flush or anything like that would be in order for a person this sick.

I lost my sister-in-law three years ago to colon cancer at age 53. Too young - what a waste!
Wish I had known about all these things back then. Maybe she would be with us today. So very, very sad.
Have your friend check Dr. Burzynski in Dallas or Houston, Texas. He has helped many cancer patients who had exhausted all their possibilities with antineoplaston (sp?) treatment.
Dr. Mercola recommends Vitamin D and I think certain mushrooms (maitake?)or their extract. Check this out on his website, www.mercola.com.
He has an interesting article, "The Cancer Treatment So Successful - Traditional Doctors Shut it Down" which you might want to read.
Read "Knockout" by Suzanne Sommers. It is full of information about cancer and treatments.

mojo,
Just thought I'd point out that many people with Liver Cancer incorporated liver flushes into their protocol with great success.
In fact the liver flushes were touted for "saving their lives" in many cases.
I don't have enough personal experience with them to comment though.

Do some research on IP-6 (inositol hexophosphate) Recently Dr Oz did a segment on this for cancer prevention, but evidently it has some reversal effects as well. Scientific studies have proved it actually shrinks tumors and increases NK cell activity. Just google it or here is a link with a little info about it,

Sorry to hear about your friend's sister. I agree with Keebler. Best to get an alternative paractioner. I would get one who specializes in cancer. Someone with experience with her specific type of cancer would be best.
When my aunt had colon cancer that spread to the liver my herbalist recommended paw paw. My aunt went the chemo route and planned to take the paw paw later but never did because she died from the toxicity of the chemo. In the end, the cancer was gone but she died anyway.
There are several sites that talk about paw paw for cancer. Many list studies that were done.

I have not read the entire thread but want to offer some help if no one else has suggested this.
Low Dose Naltrexone is very good for stopping the progression of cancer. It stimulates endorphins to boost the immune system. I had a book on it but gave it to my GP. Otherwise I could give you more specific information. You can read more about it on this site.
LDN is cheap and extremely safe. Here is the yahoo group that is using it for various conditions - cancer and auto immune diseases. I am giving LDN to my dog who has liver cancer. It does not work as well in liver cancer because it is metabolized by the liver, but it also eases pain and creates endorphins so he feels better. He is back to jumping into the car now instead of struggling.
I would also encourage your friend to get the Yasko 30 mutation methylation cycle tests. This helps uncover WHY she got sick. What is out of wack in her ability to produce glutathione to keep pathogens at bay. What is wrong with her diet.
She should be on a vegan diet. Animal fats cause cancer. No sugar, refined or processed food. However, some of the foods we consider the most healthful could be bad for her if she has one of the methy cycle mutations. These are foods with sulfate like broccoli and brussel sprouts and kale. Here is a site about the methyl cycle mutations.
These mutations are COMMON. 1 in 4 people has the MTHFR mutation. It means you cannot properly assimilate folic acid so your body does not produce enough glutathione, the most powerful antioxidant to fight the free radicals that caused her cancer in the first place. The remedy is simple - supplement with methyfolate to bypass that problem. If she addresses these mutation then she can overcome what is weakening her immune system.
She could start the diet and simple protocol, just assuming she might have it, until the test results come back with more specific recommendations. It certainly won't hurt her at all. Neither will LDN.
More info on the mutations. It is fairly long and complicated but if you scroll down you will see "Methylation and Cancer".
This is cutting edge science - WHY we are sick. It was not just a stray bullet that happened to hit her. She was a target because of her genes and environmental hits she could not defend herself from. The reason "alternative therapies" do not work for many people is because they do not address our genetic differences.
For instance the Gerson cancer therapy seems like a good diet approach until you consider how much sulfa foods they are using. Generally these foods are great for you because the sulfa is medicinal but some people cannot tolerate foods with sulfate because of the CBS mutation - so broccoli, kale and other "wonder foods" are harmful to them.
I hope this helps.
