Hi <<<<< Lyme Family >>>>>,

Still fighting the 'flu' from a couple weeks ago, which has my High Blood Pressure higher than normal.

Non-llmd,but kind and helpful PA just put me on a *Diuretic ,swollen ankles etc., She's really worried about my BP.

We started at half dose, because I react so oddly to meds [most likely the Lyme& Co's issue].

Have to keep the fluids going [flu bug respiratory and other], I'm wondering if things will calm down...glad I only did the recommended *half dose to start.

Anyone w/ Lyme&Co's have experience w/ having to add a diuretic?

It seems to help w/ the breathing [it was the tight Costachondritis-pleurisy-chest, almost allergy feel, thankfully not too much coughing...] headache lessening some.

Just wondering,if it will hopefully ease up with me having to stay chained to the restroom so to speak ???

Last time I was on diuretics, it wasn't nearly this severe, as to side effects... I'll hang in here...

But am trying to find a way to manage...I have got to get feeling better and be able to rest. I have to go for an appt.[medical] in a few days and I wont make it if I cannot leave the restroom.

Any tho'ts? Tommorrow, I am doing the quarter dose rather than half...to give my body time to get used to this med.

Lyme w/ Co's complicates everything that is for sure. Thanks for any tho'ts ideas on getting used to the meds!!!

I am not meaning to whine and complain, just worried about how to get used to this and how soon things will actually calm down.

Again, thanks for any tho'ts and ideas...

Jus' Silverwolfi...uhoh... I'll be back

Hi Lyme family,

It seems to be calming a little, but it still startled me, how many restroom calls I've had to make...and I'm already 'Princess Potties Alot' as I've been known to call myself.

It is more than a bit uncomfortable still because of IC. The BP was 150/83 or so...it has been worse, but it was up last month too... a meds change may be in order.

They are switching my Diabetic meds a bit as well, will start the different ones this week.

Still staying cautiously near the restroom...hoping that I can get used to this med and get over flu type bug...

Please Y'all be careful this flu is not good.

I'll check back later ... Thanks for any input!

Jus' Silverwolfi

You could skip the diuretic on the day of your appointment, then resume when you get home.

Which med are you on?
Diuretics tell the kidneys to filter more water out of the bloodstream, but that takes out some minerals too, like potassium.

You can eat foods high in potassium, like bananas, oranges and potatoes, to replace it.

What are your symptoms from this "flu?"

Hi <<<<< Carol in PA >>>>>,

My PA said to keep some Bananas around, and also to use a bit of Gatorade until the 'Flu Settles down.

Symptoms: Severe Icepick headaches, fevers can be low grade to high,

Ear aches, Diarrhea, sore throat, heavy feeling in chest, may be nausea and or vomiting, often with stomach and intestinal pain, and bloating ,

Some cough excessively, others have more with sinus infection with minor coughing, and extreme tiredness.

My PA said they've seen a lot of it so far this year. Our foster Granddaughter [almost 30] had to go to ER with it ,and the 6 year old neighbor girl had it for over a week as well.

I cannot seem to get over it, intestines wise my situation has been mostly 'IBS' symptoms.

PA was suspicious that the electrolyte balance is off. But she was very concerend w/ the BP running high, and my ankles swelling and painful [lots of heart disease in my family ].

I take Metformin, and it can also give upset stomach IBS issues. We are going to see if I can handle the time release type.

Diovan is teh High blood pressure medsI am on right now,and then several supplements like fish oil/omegas,flax oil etc.

I also have been using a blood sugar leveling formula[supplemental, cinnamon, gymnema sylvestrye etc], that seems to be helping ,blood sugars are calming down.

BP is still up more than I wanted, but I think some of it is from pain.

I stay on a lower dose of Cats Claw, and also magnesium [ lower dose ] w/o magnesium I get really severe leg .foot cramps.

If I can't get things calmer w/ teh diuretic,I'll skip the morning dose 'til later...good Idea [Smile] [hard to think when I get this weary].

Thanks for the link on BP and Diuretics!!! ANd for the kind reply. Whatever this 'flu' may be I am hoping it is gone really soon, tired of it for over two weeks... almost three.

I'll stop, post this and check that link... BBL from that Silverwolfi

Hey <<<<< Lyme Family >>>>>,

The 'flu' mess was a lesson for me...while I know everything is not Lyme&Co's I sometimes forget.

I didn't realize that it wasn't a severe weather migraine,w/ 'IBS' Symptoms and some sinus...

Then when foster Granddaughter called and told us she'd been to emergency TxC' asked the symptoms...same as mine and most of what the little neighbor girl had as well.

PA at the clinic confirmed that these symptoms match the 'flu' that has been going around.

I am still working on the diuretic situation did 1/4th dose this a.m. Will do an errand after a bit, and see if it is to late in day for a second quarter dose.

Don't want to be up all night, there should have been a diuretic in the Diovan, seems the order got mixed up...so perhaps we can have it changed later.

Wish things didn't get so complicated...but that part probably is...Lyme&Cos'?! Well along w/ family concerns and stress.

Jus' Silverwolfi thinking out loud!
