I am having chest discomfort that has been increasing the longer I treat Babesia ( along with a deep "rattling" cough)

Pressure-wise it feels like bronchitis (but I don't have bronchitis).

I usually start coughing right before it's time to take my malarone and it subsides a bit after taking it.

Sometimes it's painful in my left shoulder area and feels like my pectoral muscle (inflammation?).

I do have costochondritis and this is different.

Has anyone here with Babesia had lung/chest issues like this while treating it?

Thanks for any input.

This sounds EXACTLY like what happened to me taking Clindamycin (not prescribed for Babesia for me) for a few days. I had a high Babesia WA-1 IgG titer through Focus Labs before.

I took the Clindamycin as prescribed by an ID doc and by day 4 had major bronchitis symptoms. Couldn't catch a full breath, bad cough, terrible ear pressure and complete lock-up of my scapular muscle on my right side. Super scary feeling. It felt like it froze my shoulder/neck and wasn't getting better. All treatment I try results in me getting worse. I'm close to giving up. [Frown]

You can't treat if you can't breath. My neck, back and shoulders get stiff as a board. What the hell can one do?

I started having some lung pain last night. It felt like when you go running in really cold air. Slightly painful when I took a really deep breath. I have babesia but I'm not on a strong treatment for it right now.

I also was having itching and possibly hives so I think it might be more of an allergic response for me. I took clindamycin with no issues, but the new meds are giving me a problem I think.

A newer thing for me as I go along in babs treatment is the bronchitis-like coughing. I feel like when I try to breathe deeply I have to cough. I haven't had pain with it though. My air hunger has been flaring too. Why do the symptoms get worse as you go along? Babs isn't a spirichette, so it's not herxing...?
