My son has been twitching in his eye area quite a bit for the last 3 weeks.
He says his eyes feel dry and they are bloodshot.
I have been putting lubricating eye drops in but they only help for a few minutes.
When I lift his lids to put them in, they are very bloodshot underneath.
No discharge coming from his eyes. I gave him Benadryl and it did seem to help but wore off after about 4 hours and then just left him sleepy.
When I looked up his nose (he was thrilled), it was very swollen.
I have an appt next week, but I'm trying to get some relief for him in the meantime.
Any thoughts on this? I should also add that our mold, tree and pollen counts are VERY VERY high here.

If Benadryl helps, maybe try antihistamine eye drops or Zaditor (mast cell stabilizer/antihistamine eye drop), that way he won't be so drowsy...
Because antihistamines help, I'd suspect aero-allergens (pollens, mold).
