Today I had blood drawn and for some reason it hurt more than usual when the tech put the needle in.
Instantly (within seconds of removing the needle) I got a dime sized bruise around the injection site and my arm is very sore and hard to extend. I normally don't have any pain from blood draws afterwards and I've been getting at least one per week for the past several months.
What's up with this now?

Bruising would indicate bleeding under the skin, so maybe she pierced another blood vessel.
As with an injury or contusion, you can apply an ice pack every couple hours for the first 24 hours, and then apply hot compresses frequently after that. Using ice initially will cool the injured tissues and reduce swelling. Later, hot compresses will increase bloodflow to that area to speed healing.
If you have an LED light therapy unit, now would be an excellent time to use it.
