Hi,
I searched many topics and I just wanted to put it in one place.

Babesia treatment protocols + natural remedies:

1.Mepron (or Malarone) + zithromax + artemisinin
2.Quinine + Clidamycin
3.primaquine + chloroquine
4.Riamet

Natural treatments:
1. cryptolepis
2. artemisinin
3. boneset tea
4. red root tincture
5. tonic water (the best option if you can find
diet one - without sugar)
6. KMT-24 machine
7. PC-Noni - there are many Noni juices, I think this one is right:
http://www.ink-stuttgart.de/wellness_produkte.php
It is only 30 ml, but people take only few drops per day. I don't know exactly how many drops.

Please write your comments and if you know any other possible things for Babs treatment.

BTW How do You think? When choosing natural treatment, is it good to take all possible natural remedies simultaneously?
I think I would like to try this way (as I still not 100% sure if I have this bug)

hydroxychloroquine is used with macrolides to strengthen their effectiveness to treat borrelia.
For babs it is too weak, as I read.

I forgot to add: don't play with these drugs, and don't match natural treatments with chemical drugs without consultation with your doctor.

Another possibility is heparin. Here is a study out of Japan from PubMed:

We examined the inhibitory effects of three heparins on the growth of Babesia parasites. The multiplication of Babesia bovis, B. bigemina, B. equi, and B. caballi in in vitro cultures and that of B. microti in vivo were significantly inhibited in the presence of heparins, as determined by light microscopy. Treatment with various concentrations of heparin showed complete clearance of the intracellular parasites. Interestingly, a higher percentage of abnormally multidividing B. bovis parasites was observed in the presence of low concentrations of heparin. Furthermore, fluorescein isothiocyanate-labeled heparin was preferably found on the surfaces of extracellular merozoites, as detected by confocal laser scanning microscopy. These findings indicate that the heparin covers the surfaces of babesial merozoites and inhibits their subsequent invasion of erythrocytes.

Agree. Dr. K thinks that heparin is important for many people to deal with Babesia and other intracellular microbes.

I personally had some difficulties while on it but it may in fact be useful.

Tosho, I read Dr. K also tries salt/ C in limited time, some patients react to this better than PC-Noni. Not my case, I got high blood pressure from it.

Ok,

AND HOW DO YOU THINK?
Is it good to try taking for egzample: artemisinin, cryptolepis, boneset tea, red root, PC-Noni and Quina simultaneously?

The thing I'm afraid is resistance problem.

But on the other hand I see that many people do breaks in babs treatment here.

My experience is not to try to many things at once. In fact I try to go one at a time, that way if something is working, I know exactly which thing it is. Also goes if one thing is making me feel real bad, I knwo which one it is.

Ok,

Let's compare Quina (from nutramedix.com) and normal quinine pills from drugstore.

1. how many drops should be taken for effect like from one quinine-pill (I don't know how many mg has one pill)

2. is it the same part of the plant used?

3. is Quina safer than pills?

I felt I made improvement on Mepron and Ketek (800mg), but Ketek can cause liver problems so caution is necessary.

Adding artemisinin would have given it a bigger punch.

This is a great thread - thanks for gathering all the info into one place.

Like cactus, I did well on Mepron 750mg bid and Ketek 800mg qhs. I never tested positive for babs but 2months of the above helped chest pain, hip and knee pains.

Maybe it was the ketek that helped! Despite Ketek's dangers, I have always done well on it.

Quina:

I've got question to all of You: is it good to start only with Quina alone? (I've just ordered it)
Is it strong enough?

For Toshio:

Buhner is the one who recommends Boneset Tea and Red Root with Artemisinin. He now recommends cryptolepsis INSTEAD of Artemisinin. His recommendations for the main herb (Crypto or Art) are for relatively short periods of time--15 days to a month.

Personally, I think taking Artemisinin and Cryptolepsis at the sime time would be very risky.

Tonic water is very dilute and the PC-Noni is taken in very small doses. These would be easier to control and back off if needed. Also, these two are usually taken for a very long time. for example, PC-Noni is recommended by Dr. K to be taken for a YEAR!!

Buhner recommends Boneset and Red Root as adjuncts in treating Babesia for very specific reasons. Neither of them actually kill the parasite. From what I've read, people use the quinine water in a similar way--as a boost to whatever else they are doing to kill the Babesia, but how it works and what it actually does hasn't been really explained.

Best,

Cass A

I'm currently on Enula, artemesinin, Mepron, Azithromycin, Alinia, Doxycycline, Red Root, Boneset, and Stephania Root, all under my LLMD's instruction. I also add artemesinin gel, Venex ointment, ozonated olive oil, or Lymessence oil as topicals occasionally. My Drs are aware of this also.

Alinia was just added today, and it's really hitting hard. I just took one tab today, but am supposed to work up to 2 tabs/day.

hey psano doesn't doxycycline interact with mepron. Tetracycline lowers mepron levels by 40% in you blood making it useless.

http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/tetracycline_d00041_mepron_d01120.html

I don't know if this would pertain to the other cyclines though...

I rotated thru a lot of abx before I got any traction against Babesia. Doxy, biaxin 2x rate, Cipro, etc. It wasn't until Malarone (atavoquone + proguanil) that the tables turned. However, Mepron (atavoquone w/o the proguanil) by itself is better tolerated and seems to be equally effective for me, which is probably why most LLMDs prefer Mepron over Malarone anyway.

Artemisinin had a weak effect, and soon become zero effect.

Dear Friends,

It is interesting to me to see this thread surface again, when I had contributed to it in 2007! Wow!

At any rate, after I posted above about Buhner's treatment, which I was doing on myself at the time, I started getting seizures, where I was rendered unconscious for 30 minutes to several hours. I stopped taking the Buhner herbs, and went to see Dr. W.A, in CA. He put me on Mepron and Zithromax, which I took for about 10 months.

The Babesia symptoms I had--night sweats in particular--went away on this protocol.

I've tried many other things since then to handle the Lyme and co-infections, with varying success--but not for Babesia, which I considered resolved.

Best,

Cass A

I see that Buhner now recommends sida acuta over crypt and art...

I am curious as to what the proper dose of Malarone should be. I know we are not supposed to post dosages here, but if someone is willing to pm me, that would be great! I want to bring it up at my next LLMD appt. I could not afford Mepron, so am doing Malarone.

Coartem was very helpful for me.

Now I am using Ivemectin for the F bug. It is hard to tell what symptoms are babesia and what might be FL1953 but it is working.

I am also taking mincycline. I will do two weeks of ivermectin, quit it and start chloraquine and primaquine. After two weeks I will do the ivermectin again.

I am on Malerone and biaxin and doing really well. I am also doing 1/2 teaspoon of sida acuta twice a day as well as art 1 pill three times a day with grapefruit juice. I finally feel like I am REALLY getting well. I didn't realize how much of a part Babs has played for me... huge. I think the Sida is pretty strong and I think it is working really well, definitely better than crypt for me.

Willbeatthis: you do know that you have to pulse art, right? Your body will become resistant (something about enzymes). I just started sida acuta and am increasing slowly! Have you noticed anything different since starting sida acuta?

Also, I am having a hard time finding what dose I should work up to with sida?
