My adult son was just diagnosed with Lyme's. He has had a lot of pain in his body, especially in his joints, and a myriad of other physical concerns. But one of the most baffling and concerning problems has been GI related.
He has had chronic episodes of vomiting for several days, where he has to go to the hospital for dehydration. This has been going on for at least three years. They have not been able to figure out why. He also has GERD (acid reflux). He has severe abdominal pain.
He had Pancreatitis last year where he was in ICU for a week, and then in and out of the hospital for that. But supposedly his Pancreas levels are fine now, so the abdominal pain he is having is not supposed to be induced.
How much of any of this could be Lyme's related?

It sounds like it's lyme and bartonella. If he hasn't already found one, he can find a lyme literate medical doc (LLMD) at www.lymediseaseassociation.org, or either of you can post here in SEEKING but you will have to make sure the doc is ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society) oriented (ILADS docs are cutting edge when it comes to lyme--everyone else doesn't even have a clue and you will be wasting your time).
You may need to go out of state to find someone lyme literated (ILADS). Many people go outside of their state to find a good one. It's worth it.
You should check out "Under Our Skin" on hulu (free download). Also the book, "Cure Unknown" will explain the lyme controversy.
I'm no doc, but it sounds like it's all lyme related. Lyme attacks the endocrine system.

Took my daughter to see Dr. Fried (above paper) who said, along with my LLMD, that my daughter's "severe colitis" could have been really LYME in the gut these last 5 years.
So, my thought is that if your son has a diagnosis of Lyme, that his other problems could all from the Lyme also and he should start treatment asap.
