I told me Doc I was taking 4 nystation tablets per day (250,000 units per tablet) & he said he's not sure the toxicity with them so only take 2 per day.
Anyone know if Nystatin is relatively safe on gut/liver?

I was taking 2 2x per day for as long as I was on abx - years. It has minimal absorption.

Wow. Nystatin is known for being very safe. It passes through the GI tract and is eliminated mostly unchanged. It is not a systemic anti-fungal (diflucan is systemic).

I had this problem with the pharmacy. My doctor called in a dosage (2 tsp 4x per day of liquid or 1 pill 4x per day) and the pharmacist called telling me not to take the dose, that it was an error, and that I would have a dangerous overdose on it.
I checked with my doctor the next time I met with him. He said it's perfectly safe to take that dose and not harmful at all. I looked it up as well and the dose has to be much higher to cause adverse effects. The main side effects would then be nausea and vomiting.

Wanna hear a good one. My doctor prescribed Nystatin powder a couple of years ago to be mixed with water.
The pharmacy gave me the wrong powder. They gave me topical powder and I almost took it!
The pharmacy called me and were frantic and told me not to take it which I was about to .
My husband and daughter would have been set for life.
When I finally did get the correct powder I couldn't tolerate it. Made me nauseous and made my head spin.

Daughter does not seem to tolerate Nystatin.
Pills, liquid or powder. Chest gets tight, numbness in body, brain feels scrambled etc.
