I was on cipro for a week, but was taken off because I had more vision issues, including some double vision (from a distance like stop lights, I see two green lights on top of each other instead of one) as well as I had popping in my joints. My dr put me back on Bicillin, and was going to try to consult with someone about my case.
When I stopped cipro, my heels starting hurting big time (worse in the am) and had tons of issues with muscle spasms. Majority of them were in my calves. So, seemed like bart to me.
This week, went back to Dr. Told him this. He hadn't consulted with anyone yet. He decided that since I was worse off the cipro, to start me back on it. That it appeared we were finally doing some good with an antibiotic.
I'm not sure if he thought of my previous issues with the medicine before he put me back on cipro, or if he was just happy we finally had a direction to go.
He did do blood work, checking for muscle wasting (CK), magnesium level, electrolytes, CBC, and ANA. to double check I was ok.
So, getting to the point.....
I started the cipro last night. I woke up before the alarm clock today, actually felt awake for the first time in awhile
But, When I drove my son to school I noticed that the double vision is back
I really noticed vision issues when I was reading things at walgreens and on this site today as well. I have a few other things going on also... but not sure if its related yet.
Can a bartonella herx cause vision issues?
Heck, I don't even know... Does Bartonella produce a HERX? like lyme does?

I have wondered the same thing. I have yet to take any abx for co infections. Do you herx the same when killing co infections as you do with lyme?

Oh, and by the way... I have been trying to take the cipro at a time where I won't be driving. My vision reaction that I had posted about was from the medication i took the night before, I hadn't taken my morning pill yet.
Any suggestions to help with sleep?
I have before this medication slept like a rock. (and slept 10 hours if the alarm clock and life didn't wake me) But, now am very restless. I normally take melatonin and .25mg xanax before bed. I ended up taking another xanax last night. And then woke up at 2am. I managed to go back to sleep after abit, but tosed and turned. I almost took a third xanax. This is crazy!
My anxiety during the day has been up also. Obviously I need to work on detoxing. Anything else I can do to help with a better nights sleep?

Anxiety is a side effect of Cipro. Our daughter had very increased anxiety from even a small dose of Cipro.
She tried to stay on, but after a couple of weeks her LLMD stopped it as felt the anxiety was not a herx.
Our DD does get increased anxiety and vision issues any time we try and treat Bart.
I hope you can figure it out. It is so hard to know what is a side effect or herx.
Good luck

It is difficult to determine which is which. One of the severe reactions to Cipro is vision issues, but it could also be Bart.
I agree it truly is frustrating. I'm backing off to only 1 pill a day for a few days to see if that will help.
I'm on 500mg. I was suppose to take that 2x aday for a wk, then go down to once a day. (not a literate dr) So, I'm going to back down to once a day now. And amp up to twice a day once I think I have a handle on the once a day pill.
