For all you who are suffering and in pain this Christmas, please be encouraged that there are answers out there.

Dr. C in Missouri recommended the Gerson Therapy for me three years ago. However, I did not start it until this year because of its intensity and expense.

Three months ago, I began the full therapy. Wow, have I had the healing reactions. But never before have I ever had such good results. Some things that have improved already:

-weight gain
----previously malnourished and extremely thin
-normal body temperature
----previously very low, down to 96.5 degrees
-anxiety
----former severe panic anxiety sufferer
-depression
----say no more!
-increased (normal!) white blood cell count
----previously under
-increased Eocinophil count, which means Lyme being attacked
-true herxes with nausea, then improvement
-better bowel activity with significantly less pain
-increased liver functioning
-old Lyme arthritic injuries flaring up (NEVER happened to me before, despite rifing and antibiotics!)
-no more chest pain
-air hunger going away
-less diarrhea

I could go on, but Christmas calls! I'm still in the middle of getting better, but I do hope that you find hope that there are answers.

The book is around 10 dollars on Amazon (get the red+white copy, it's easier to read) and the Institute answers emails promptly and well.

Dr. C never recommended anything like this to me. Odd. However, many of his recommendations are very general in nature as possible recommendations if one feels like it. How much does the protocol cost approximately?

Approximately 800-1000 per month including injectables, medications, food, blood tests, yada yada.

It seems like a lot until I think about how much I used to spend on doctoring and supplements.

And getting better is worth any cost!

There is also the cost of the norwalk juicer. Another 1k if I remember right.

The main cost is for the first 12 weeks then it is maintenance from there and the expenses shrink.

How long missextreme did you do the protocol for and how long did you do the 13 juices?

Really happy you did this, it is a testament to how strong the immune system can get when you involve nature.

I have been doing the protocol for 3 months now, on the 13 juices.

It's worth it, considering that no other protocol seriously gets everything in working order.

Not only is the infection eradicated, but your body heals itself.

And that is the key, I have found.

Would you mind sharing what the 13 juices are? I have done some serious juicing over the yrs and it did not help eradicate these infections. Maybe the wrong Juices?

Thanks

Absolutely. Juicing never worked alone for me. It's the full therapy, all put together, that cures.

-5 coffee enemas a day are critical. These are amazing and help clear my toxins. However, the juices are so important to replenish the minerals lost. I could never handle more than one enema a day before I started the full therapy. I also find using my sauna 3/day clears toxins. I have soooooo many.

-The B12/Liver injectables are important
-The thyroid and iodine help raise metabolism (which I never could handle, either, before I started the therapy)
-The Hydrocloric acid at mealtimes helps digestion so much!

All of these things, both detox and Lyme treatment, are critical to treat.

The juice schedule consists of:
3 plain carrot juices
4 green juices (see recipe in book)
6 carrot/apple juices
and I do one carrot/celery juice before bed because I also use my sauna regularly.

Keep the questions coming!

Thanks.

I have done all of the above and did it during a 4 month meditation. I admit I didn't do the quantity of juicing and enemas that you mentioned.

The other question I have is that usually an elevated eosinophil count can be indicative of a parasitic infection.

Is your count elevated or in the normal range?

I only made progress when I started to use antiparasitic herbs and salt/c and got rid of a ton of parasites.

I really believe and have experienced 1st hand that this is the case for many Lyme sufferers. Your arthritic flare is concerning also.

I really don't mean to sound negative, just that I have been doing a lot of VERY intensive alternative therapy for yrs.

No doubt that all of this can help boost your immune system, but I would be very surprised if this alone can eradicate these infections.

Again, not trying to be negative and only wish you much healing. Please keep us posted,

Gael

Update:

As I follow the therapy longer, the elevated eocinophil count is returning to normal.

My arthritis is getting better, too.

Slow & steady progress wins the race.

The Gerson Therapy does eradicate infection, since it has many supplements that fight LD. I know this because Dr. C in Missouri uses these!

In support of missextreme's posts regarding the Gerson therapy, I can also report favorable results to this approach.

I had not read missextreme's post but found Gerson on my own accord and decided to try as a fine tune to my other methods for feeling the best I could.

Now I want to learn who else with Lyme's has tried this approach and found relief?

I mainly show symptoms of neurological Lyme's with brain fog, disorientation and depression issues and at one time I had indications of the co-infection Babasia.

Background
Traced my Lyme's infection back to 1989 while living in Connecticut.

Started chasing disruptive quality of life symptoms in 2003.

Tested positive with Igenex in 2003 and confirmed results with live blood microscope work
2004 to 2005 did a mix of antibiotics until I couldn't take that any more.Symptoms came back in 3 months

In 2007 did 75 sessions of Hyperbarics and cleared myself of all symptoms. Discovered what my feeling excellent base line is. Symptoms came back 9 months

2008 Started using the raw food / wheatgrass juice diet from Ann Wigmore and began to feel better. Many symptoms subsided or lessened

2010 tested 2nd time with Igenex. Wanted new base line with improved/more sensitive testing. Same bands of Lyme showed up but at less levels

2010 Started Gerson partially with 1-2 enemas a day, couple juices with each enema, no protein or fat diet, supplements, castor oil packs, sauna and exercise.

Presently, 9 months into this routine and results are very noticeable. so much so I have also increased my routine to 2-3 enemas a day

As well I started looking into male hormone balancing as I'm just over 50 years of age.

The Gerson therapy is very labor intensive and very self disciplined. It will take a while to get used to the enema and the caffeine high.
It all takes practice to find your routine and the healing is going to be very slow with gradual changes.

I expect to have to continue for 2 years based on being sick for over 20 years.

By my calculations Gerson is of the greatest value to improving your health no Dr's, no medication, no insurance, no running around and you have to eat healthy food...

I felt it was important to just begin the process it didn't have to be perfect. The importance was to begin removing the toxins from my body.

The results so far are the loss of these personal symptoms:

Much improved mental disposition willing to be more social with less negative and less adversarial conversation

Energy level is approaching the outcome of the Hyperbarics therapy no daytime sleep

Good focus to read and work on computer.

Lipomas all over my body shrinking (started growing when I got Lyme's)

Neck is no longer stiff and sore (been that way since I can remember)

Other joints less crunchy and willing to take more exercise

Sleep soundly thru the night (thank you 5-HTP and Melatonin)

No restless leg while trying to fall asleep

Additional weight loss from Wigmore's diet
Varicose veins shrinking
Hair is returning to the top of my head

Gerson is mainly marketed to the Cancer folks but I'm sure This might be a good choice for some of you.

Check out gerson.org for more information and how the get the book "Healing the Gerson way"

This is a pay forward message to the readers of Lymenet.
Best of luck

It is great. Really great. I am still getting better and better.

I do the full therapy with 5 Coffee Treatments and 14 juices per day.

What can I do?

Well - after being very, very sick -

Now I teach 10 piano students
Am taking a full credit load
Dating again (He is almost my boyfriend! It's wonderful)
Help do the therapy (it's hard to do alone, but my Mom is great)

Remember, a person can do an amazing amount of work when you feel good. Things just keep on improving. I wish I could have time to write you all who have asked me about the Therapy.

I would encourage you to go to www.gerson.org and get in touch with the people there. They are friendly and helpful and should get you connected to other Lyme people who have done the protocol.

To life again! I am so blessed. The Gerson Therapy has been a miracle

Just making all that juice is an accomplishment!!! Do you have a Norwalk juicer?

Five coffee treatments!! WOW!! I did find they were a tremendous help, but I did ONE per day!!

Are people on their medications the same time they are on the Gerson therapy?

I have been thinking about the Gerson therapy, but wondered if the Champion juicer would work as the Norwalk is so expensive. I read they do not want the vegtables juiced with centrifugal force, instead mashed. Does anybody know if this is correct?

Yes, that is correct. I have a Norwalk, and the juice is very different from my old centrifugal force juicer.

Some thoughts on reducing the expense of Gerson. You could try the HUROM juicer which is about 300 dollars and doesn't have the same loss in nutrients as the centrifugal or others. Not sure how different but it is worth a try.

Find either 1 or a number of farmers in your area who might allow you to buy in bulk. The best time of year for the protocol is probably late july when produce costs are at their least. The plan is to do the protocol for 12 weeks and then maintenance, maybe 1 or 2 juices a day.

I don't believe the 5 enemas are forever.

One point of juicing which should be considered after the 12 weeks is to include beet juice. It helps to rebuild the liver and is probably the most detoxifying vegetable that exists.

For me, I've done many things with diet and was tempted to do the protocol, just didn't need to.

I may do it next year for the twelve weeks, just to see if I feel like a teen-ager again, [lol]

Do you make the juice each time you need to drink it? Or can you juice in the morning for all day?

What makes the Norwalk different from other juicers?

Again the Gerson program is labor intensive and requires you to change your daily routine "period".

It is not about the juicer brand or how many times you take a coffee enema It's about starting.

Read my last message again.

Some additional thoughts to share:

The fact is, my body has been infested with a Micoplasma and or derivative bacteria which makes me very sick.

The Federal Government or Corporate Health Insurance is not going to assist in my recovery so I have taken on the responsibility to be my own "health care system"

Family, friends, work, entertainment have taken a low priority while I figure this out.

Now as I'm beginning to feeling better we can once again begin to enjoy sharing this life together.

There is good information from centuries of mankind but you need to dig deep to find it.
References in articles I read led me to Wigmore and Gerson. Both of them discuss simple science and observations.

After all, the human body is a very simple to operate just add air, water, food, exercise and allow for waist removal.

I'm a believe nothing, test everything type of personality

So I thought I would test Gerson for the big cost of 20 something dollars.

In my testing, I change only one variable or one group of variables at a time.

Then try for a couple months to see if there is a positive or negative outcome.

I recommend to everyone, keep a journal and document your history, symptoms and reactions to the various methods and products tried.

It's a choice and not for everyone:

Choose between a "magic pill" to feel lethargic and some what sick every day or focus on removing toxins and flushing your body with nutrients as away of life.

You all know, if you stop the magic pill, Lyme and or co-infection symptoms come back.

But getting to a point where you can take a couple enemas a week and eat the right food can last a life time.

In my opinion the bottom line is -
Healing doesn't begin until you really understand the significance of this statement...

It doesn't matter how much good stuff you eat to heal your body if your body can't remove the waist it contains and has stored for many years.

It's about the coffee enemas.
If someone suggested to do a coffee enema a year ago, I would have said "no thanks your crazy"

Nobody wants to talk about what happens in your "down there" colon. Get used to it and coffee enemas will improve your life.

Why because it's about stimulating your liver to produce bile. Bile contains the toxins your liver collects every second of the day.

I suggest you look up bile and learn where it comes from and what this chemistry does for all the components of your body

Gerson brings new meaning to the phrase "Holy $#!t"

Not being perfect to the Gerson plan, I found inserting the coffee solution into my colon while on my hands and knees with a 8oz rectal syringe from the stove top pan works just fine.

Then I lay down on my right side for 10-12 minutes and read or listen to some music.

I use a folded tissue in my crack to soak up any leaking from my colon contractions and short steps to the bathroom to release.

Wear loose shorts or sweat paints so you can catch the occasional larger uncontrollable leak and be able to sit down on the toilet quick.

I don't worry if I can't make the full 10-12 minutes if the need to let the enema loose is shorter. It's mind over matter and requires practice.

Just celebrate the fact you have naturally stimulated your liver to excrete toxin laden bile into your intestine and it heading towards the toilet.

Ok so first enema starts the bile flowing second enema flushes out the bile which entered the colon and stimulates more.

Point here is 1-2 enemas removes less bile then 3-4 enemas as the bile makes it's long journey down the intestine.

The important days are the ones you swallow caster oil with a sugared cup of coffee.
Followed but the second enema with caster oil added to the second coffee enema.
See Gerson book for details.

In the beginning it was like taking anti-biotic "same deep sick feeling" now it's more tolerable.

It makes my sphincter burn as caster oil creates a fast track for full strength bile to exit my colon.

I do this Mon, Wed, Fri weekends off but the next morning I feel the most improvement.

Juicers:
Use what you have to begin as you get stronger then begin think about your long term strategy.

Do what you can to just get some kind of nutrients inside you body to replace the toxins removed by the coffee enema.

Buy or make fresh juice or if you can't do that then eat apples, carrots or make a salad.

Just do something good and wholesome for your body

An anti-inflammatory diet summary to get you feeling better is
Eat vegetables
Eat fruits
Eat nuts
Eat probiotics and use products like plain low fat Yogurt and or plain Kifer

No eating wheat gluten
No eating dairy products
No eating meat
No eating sugar
No eating salt
No eating chemicals

All the best
JWC

An article on the difference in the Norwalk. http://tinyurl.com/28jhv5n

With a Norwalk you can make all the juice and it will last for up to three days. Other juicers have separation so you make it when you are going to drink it.

We need salt (sea salt) We are 75% saline and through perspiration etc we lose salt daily. A lot of people with Lyme are salt deficient. The adrenal glands need salt.

It is TABLE SALT that is not good for us because it is devoid of any minerals and has additives such as silicon dioxide.

I am doing well! I am much closer to normal than I was. I teach about 30 piano lessons a week now, plus dating & thinking about going back to college. Life is good.

In addition to the Gerson Therapy, I am also on Armour Thyroid and the gluten free diet. I also did the Hulda Clark Liver Cleanse with huge results.

In all, with everything together, I am really happy with how life is now. I'll try to write a more detailed post soon. There are a lot of aspects to my recovery.

Remember, everyone...

THERE IS HOPE!

I was sick for 12+ years and I'm finally on the better end.

MissExtreme,
I have looked into the Gerson therapy and read a lot about it -- I also wanted to mention that for anyone who has Netflix, there are videos on Gerson available via streaming vid there. They're worth watching to get a sense of what it's all about.

I have done a modified version -- juicing much less with a less-professional juicer and coffee enemas. It was definitely helpful but as MissExtreme exemplifies, the Gerson Institute tells people that it only really works if done all the way -- that is, following the protocol MissExtreme is doing. I just don't have enough help or money to pull that off right now.

I did have a few questions though:

-- Does anyone know if the new low-speed juicers like the Omega Nutrition Center, which process the vegetables much more slowly than typical juicers so as to preserve nutrients, would work as well as the Norwalk juicers? They are much cheaper.

-- MissExtreme, did you work directly with someone from Gerson? I know they have coaches who are often people who have recovered from illnesses.

-- Can you share your results with the Hulda Clark cleanse and at what point you did it? Did you wait until regaining some stregth or do it before starting Gerson to get the liver in top shape?

Thanks for sharing your story -- I hope you have continued success!

I've heard you can use a regular juicer and a separate hydraulic press.

Dear friends,

To answer a few questions:

1. it works so well with detoxing the body. I highly recommend it for anyone who has problems feeling nasty

2. The body is supposed to kill the Lyme from being made strong. I was not gluten free while on the treatment, so I still am not at 100%. I'm still better (I'm at college right now, which is why I'm so busy!) but I'm not able to follow the regimen like I was. I really wish I would have known that I was gluten intolerant while on the treatment, because it could have worked so much better.

3. We used a regular Champion juicer and a separate hydraulic press after our Norwalk broke. Works great.

4. I worked with someone from the Gerson Institute who used the Gerson to get over his initial stage Lyme.

5. The Hulda Clark liver cleanse I did after about 2.5/3 years following the Gerson therapy (but not full therapy anymore). I was quite healthy physically at that point. I did about 6 in a row, every two weeks. I had probably 50-70 stones, some as big as 1/2 in to 3/4 in. I'm only 26, too! The cleanse was very effective.

Hope this helps, you guys-
C

missextreme,

Nice to hear that you are doing so well. Was just wondering if you ever did a parasite cleanse since you are not at 100%? Hulda Clark was big on parasite cleansing. Maybe this could bring you up to full speed.

Also plant enzymes could be helpful since you don't have time to juice the way you were. I like Super Digestaway by Soloray. Thanks for the update.

Just a word of warning. I tried juicing kale and spinach and it made me extremely sick. Then I was tested for the methyl cycle mutations and I have the CBS mutation which means I cannot tolerate foods high in sulfur, which includes cabbage, kale, spinach, broccoli etc.

I also cannot detox caffeine because of the mutations so this therapy would be detrimental to me. According to Dr. Roberts, a heart surgeon (not an LLMD that needs to be protected) 90% of chronically ill patients have at lease one copy of the CBS mutation.

There are other ways to stimulate glutathione production besides coffee enemas. First of all, you need to find out why you aren't producing enough of it - which mutations you have that are blocking it.

The Gerson therapy is also vegan and CBS is best treated with a vegan diet. When you know all of your mutations food becomes medicine. You take the right food and the right supplements. After you have gotten some of the blocks opened you can use gluatathione patches to help stimulate production.

Nefferdun,

Can you point me in the right direction on finding out more about CBS mutations? What you mentioned about not being able to detox caffeine really got my attention as sometimes I feel this is the case for me, also my daughter as chocolate doesn't agree with her.

I am also homozygous C677T so that in itself is not good but I am not familiar with CBS mutation. Can you give me an idea on what needs to be done before people with CBS can tolerate glutathione?

I tried glutathione and had good results the first 3 or 4 times and then didn't notice anything. I would go there feeling awful and then after my infusion would feel great. Then I stopped noticing a difference.

This is where I bought the test. You do not need a doctor to draw the blood samples - it is just a prick and comes with the lances. The test costs $500 and it isn't covered by insurance. It takes up to 3 months to get the results.

Here is another site that explains the methyl cycle mutations. I had this doctor do an analysis of my results and that took another 3 months. I think you could figure it out most of it for yourself.

http://www.heartfixer.com/AMRI-Nutrigenomics.htm

Everyone focuses on MTHFR but that is just a small part of the problem. The methylation cycle controls many functions in the body. When you know what is not working properly you can correct it with diet and supplements.

It is like having a satellite picture to replace a road map. It gives you exact locations of where there is too much traffic, detours, bad weather etc so you can bypass it.

Thanks for that info nefferdun. I'm pretty sure I asked you for it before but you know how that goes! [loco]
