Well after years of searching...I have finally received the Lyme dx. Now what to do? My Dr. is a naturopath and believes that I should do a combo of herbs and oral antibiotics? I am torn as to whether I should see an LLMD for IV theraphy or not.
What is the most successful form of treatment?
What worked for you?
Please share your stories.....I just want to beat this!
Thanks!

I have done extended period of both homeopathic and IV separately. Everyone is different. In hind-sight, I wished I would have started IV sooner.
I improved slightly with homeopathic, but I believe my Lyme progressed in other areas. Depending on how long you have had it will depend on how aggressive you need to be.
Natural meds can be very powerful. I herxed like crazy on some of them. You run into side-effects if you go with conventional meds and IVs.
I don't know if that was any help!
Glad you got a diagnosis! Kind of bittersweet, I am sure.

I see the Dr. Friday to discuss all this. I hope something will get me better. Just crossing my fingers.

Congratulations on your diagnosis! LOL Nice to have answers, isn't it?
I would say find a doctor (LLMD) you trust and stick with their treatment. This is after four doctors. We have used oral antibiotics, nutritional IV treatments, herbs. Now using a combination of oral antibiotics and herbs plus lots of supplements. Our doctor says IV antibiotics for more serious cases. (Also is a naturopathic doctor.)
I don't have a success story to share, but I do feel hopeful!

The members here can provide some insight that should give you indications if you are heading in the right direction over time.
I think SickofSick has a very valid point about IV for the sickest. I am pretty sure I could not have continued to work going the IV route. Also my LLMD is very successful in treating Lyme so as I learned more from this site it tracks with his protocol, althought he lets me pick the supplements as long as I give him my list.
So it really depends. Dr R in Seattle says that he has patients that get better with supplements and Samento and Banderol but there are others he has to use a more agressive approach. Since the LLMD's see patients all day they get a good sense of the rhythm of the treatment.
Based on symtoms, I was convinced I had Bart but my LLMD did not go after it until I had been hitting the Lyme and CPN for 7 months. Ofcourse I did not know why but he does.

I had worked with an LLND for a year with herbs and low dose doxy. That worked to a point but when we decided to pull the doxy I got into a lot of trouble.
So this April I went the traditional route. I think the LLND will still be very much involved and I totally appreciate everything she has done. They have a way of looking at the big picture that some docs do not. She also really has helped me keep track of what is going on from month to month. Her input was priceless
But I wish I had gone the LLMD route sooner. I have been on combination abx since April...not too long...but I also want to try the IV route. I have been sick for at least 6 years and this stuff is truly engrained in my brain.
I will hopefully be starting IV soon....although the timing is poor given that my 3 kids will be on summmer vacation at about the same time. Still...I don't want to put it off any further.

Some of the ticks seem to carry a stronger strain of Lyme. I have been sick longer but I think my son's (I was bitten in Texas and he was bitten in Northern VA) Lyme is harder to get rid of.
Sorry you had an initial slow start but maybe your overall load is lower so IV's do more work quicker.
