What has worked for you in clearing mycoplasma pneu.? My titers have come down after a year on lauricidin and doxycyline, but they need to come down further.
Has anyone had success with this? How long did it take?

Mine responded very well to about five months of Doxycycline but I don't think it was enough, I need to get my titers checked again

I've been on doxycyline off and on, but even though my titers have come down, I still have it. So does hubby, so we are going to try doxy together.
I with I could tolerate zith, because that is supposed to help, too.
Anybody have success with olive leaf extract?

My titers went down with 6 months of Doxy. But now my 7 yr old tested positive for it and he can't have Doxy. Is there something else we can use for him? If not abx, something herbal?

As for meds -- I have always been under the impression that meds used to treat bart also treat mycoplasma -- cipro, levaquin, factive, rifampin

I went to the urgent care and the doc there said I have myco pneumonia.
He said that biaxin works for it.
Anyone try that?

Janice, there are strains of Mycoplasma in which Macrolide Abx (Biaxin, Zithromax, etc.) are useless. Many docs aren't smart enough to understand that. For those Minocin is a better choice and possibly even Levaquin.

Serrapeptase: 1 capsule daily on empty stomach - this will help break the mycoplasma cell walls open and make them more vulnerable to the herbs.
Raintree Nutrition Myco formula - this is a great combination formula for mycoplasma and reports I have heard show it is pretty effective for most people.
Cryptolepis as a systemic antibiotic. 1 tsp 3x daily (woodlandessence.com).
Mycoplasma actually likes gluten so it is good you aren't eating it - avoid white sugar as well and also nuts and seeds and any oils that come from them.
I would highly recommend bee pollen to help replace the amino acids that the mycoplasma are consuming. 1 tbl daily in the a.m.
And to help your adrenals and energy I would highly suggest the muscle tone formula from Woodland Essence which is composed of pine pollen, aralia, and American ginseng tinctures. 1 dropperful 3x daily.
If your energy is really low the use of eleutherococcus tincture (HerbPharm brand only) is essential. 1 tsp a.m. and noonish.
A general multi-vitamin supplement plus extra C, D, E, CoQ-10, beta-carotene, quercetin, folic acid, bioflavoids and biotin are necessary and helpful when recovering from a mycoplasmal infection.

Is Minocin the same as Minocycline?
I was just about to restart Biaxin for Myco P. Would Minocyline be a better choice? If so, why?
Also trying to find out how long term Factive is prescribed-dosage and duration.

Cheryl you may have luck researching Dr. Garth Nicolson. I had to chance to speak with him and he is very knowledgable about Mycoplasma infection (it appears to be his main point of research) and knows what a struggle Lyme, etc., can be as well

Thanks, Olive. I did contact them and he send me two documents to download. I've been researching everything I can.
I just wnat to get a handle how long I'm going to be in this relapse. I haven't worked in 3 1/2 weeks. I'm a little desperate.

I also have a very tough time with zith - it leaves me spacey and disoriented. With the 10 day half life it was a LONG time getting over that....
However, there are other macrolides - I'm doing pretty well with biaxin (clarythromycin).
Usually, pairs of abx are more effective than just one; a macrolide and tetracycline are better than either alone. You might try talking with your LLMD about biaxin.
