I have come across some information on peptide shots for various conditions: candidis, fibromyalgia, lupus, arthritis, leaky gut, many auto-immune conditions.

www.ncbi,nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16372883?dopt=abstract

I was searching for a general practitioner here in Florida and came across this Doctor:

www.autoimmunedoctor.com

He is one of about 20 doctors in the USA who uses this therapy. Very interesting and something I am going to look into further. I know that he accepts ins. for office visits but once monthly shots are 260.00.

I already spend that a month on supplements and other therapies.....

Has anyone here heard of this or tried it out?

I would be very cautious if doing this treatment.

Hubby did this 2 years ago -- was not a success and may have even made things worse.

He had 2 shots -- the doc who was an ACAM physician wanted him to stop as many meds as possible -- he stopped low dose Cortef -- 5 mg daily and Florinef. Did not resume these meds at that time.

Both shots raised his WBC for 2 or 3 days only -- went from around 4.0 to 9.0 or 10.5 -- can't remeber exact numbers right now.

Anyway -- I feel either the shots or stopping the Cortef is the reason he developed a paralytic illness (pretty sure it was viral in origin) a month after the 2nd shot -- I think the shots may have imbalanced his immune system even worse than it was in the beginning.

Hubby's shots were general peptide shots and not specific for Lyme -- have heard a rumour that a doc in the East has had some success with peptide shots specific for Lyme.

I would ask the doc to let you speak to any other Lyme patients who have had the shots before trying them -- there was no one for hubby to ask at the time. Lyme Net readers mostly advised us against trying this back then as it was so new.

This is not medical advice, just my opinion based on hubby's experiences.

Bea Seibert

P.S. Hubby's doc trained in France to learn this treatment.

Thank you Bea,

I figured that if anyone would know about this tx, it would be you. I have also had psoriasis since I was 17 years old. Ironically, when I became infected with Lyme the psoriasis went away

except for a few small flair areas around my period.

I was thinking that the peptide therapy might work becuase of this aspect and there are psoriasis specific peptides.

This doctor does not claim to treat lyme as far as I know. Peptides are being used in lieu of IVIG for some autoimmune patients.

anyone else?

I saw a LLMD in CT several years ago who was suggesting this therapy for me for LD. They did it apparently. But I didn't do it or go back. I have no more info than that on it (not much, I know).

BTW, Bea, for the dr to tell your hubby to just stop Cortef and Florinef is really dangerous advice! You aren't supposed to stop steroids suddenly! (albeit more natural, low dose, and more bioidentical in the case of Cortef)! It's dangerous. The dr should have known better. How terrible that your hubby had that chain of events.

There is a researcher who was recently awarded funding via Turn the Corner or Time for Lyme, I forget which, who works on peptides.

Just for kicks and giggles, I have, for lack of a better term, some gut feeling that if there is a true cure for Lyme, it will come in the form of a polypeptide or peptide. Just my two pennies thrown into the fountain.

Candance Pert et al have shown amazing things with peptides and viruses, including AIDS, and although bacteria and viral issues are two different bestly spp completely, I still think this might be of further interest.

Very interested in any new info on peptide therapy. There is a doctor nearby who has offered them to me when diagnosed with CFS. However, now that I'm diagnosed with lyme I don't know if they would be an option. I'm ready to start lots on abx. It sounds MUCH easier to take peptide shots and get better rather than to get more ill in order to get better/
