I am having some yeast issues in my stomach
I went off everything except for my rifampin for a week. I have been on rifampin consecutively every day for 8 months,.
but when my stomach started getting worse this week. I went off the rifampin too
I told my LLMD that i went off rifampin for two days and she said "thats alright, the world wont stop"
Is it ok that i did that?
I just took my first dose of it this AM again. Ive read stuff on here about flu like symptoms etc when stopping it and restarting it.
is it dangerous to do that? surely people have had to stop taking it a few days before because of stomach flu, throwing up etc.
Im treating yeast with oil of oregano and strict strict diet. im getting die off.
I feel a bit of chest tightness. no shortness of breath tho. and a bit achey. once again I dont know if this is yeast die off or restarting rifampin since I am currently having die off from yeast.
im a little scared. is this becuase of re-starting the rifampin? I dont want to freak myself out
any insight thanks!

what do they mean once-daily rifampin?? got this off a website.....
"Immunologic
The 'flu-like syndrome' generally occurs with intermittent dosing of rifampin, in patients with poor adherence to daily rifampin therapy, and when daily rifampin is resumed after a drug free period.
Immunologic side effects have included flu-like syndrome presenting as fever, malaise, nausea, vomiting, petechiae and myalgias. This syndrome is probably an immune-mediated reaction. Rarely, dyspnea and shock have been associated with once-daily rifampin therapy

I spent 9 mos on Rifampin. I herxed every 28 days, and had to stop taking it for 48 hours each month during my flare. I did it every month. My dr okayed it - something to do with the half life of the med, and gave me the same 'no biggie' impression.
My guess is the achiness is from the oil of oregano causing dieoff. But just MHO...

I had to stop for two weeks due to elevated liver enzymes. When I restarted, it was pretty rough. I had a very upset stomach for a couple of days, and I felt like my bones ached.
I do feel that I have made my best progress on rifampin, and I will do pretty much anything to make sure I can stay on it.

I just stopped it myself and will probably remain off it for 2-3 days due to severe herxing. We all gotta do what we gotta do to make it through.

I have started it very slowly (due to many reactions- not necessarily Herxes- that I have experienced over the years with various prescription medications). May I ask what dose you are all referring to? Perhaps 600 mg (2, 300 mg capsules daily)?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I stopped all meds including rifampin for about 5 days due to severe nausea a couple of months ago. I resumed with little difficulty - just the usual herxing that I previously had with it. I was taking 300 mg 2 x day.
