In the Merck mannual, years ago, there was a "Universal Remedy".

It was Mg oxide, activated charcoal (to absorb toxins) and tannic acid.

Tannins... interesting.

More on tannic acid here (it is in teas):

http://tannicacid.info/

Tannins present in Cichorium intybus

enhance glucose uptake and inhibit adipogenesis

in 3T3-L1 adipocytes through

***PTP1B inhibition.***

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18534569

Guess what else inhibits PTP1B...

Berberine.

Light is absorbed by ***rhodopsin*** which is bleached and activates PTP1B which Berberine inhibits.

Guess which pathogen triggers that by upregulating TNFa which increases PTP1B...yup, Bb.

PTP1B = Tyrosine-protein phosphatase non-receptor type 1 also known as protein-tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) is an enzyme that is the founding member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family.

PTP1B is a negative regulator of the insulin signaling pathway
and is considered a promising potential therapeutic target, in particular for treatment of type 2 diabetes.

Guess which natural herb is now being considered to treat type 2 diabetes.

Yup...Berberine.

PLEASE pay attention...

ENHANCE glucose uptake...

Why the heck did ya all consider DNP in Italy years ago?!

To upregulate glycolysis (make a lot more ATP that way - which normally = too little ATP is made - in the cell cytoplasm) and BURN FAT instead.

DNP (for newbies) is in a class with cyanide. It was used for rapid weight loss = ketones. A doc who lost his U.S. med license went to Italy and used this drug in an attempt to cure lyme and cancer.

Unfortunately, it messes with the electrolyte balance big-time (kidneys regulate) and a young (doctor) died as a result of that treatment.

Gotta go slow.

Berberine is used to reverse "metabolic syndrome" which far too many Americans suffer from.

Ahhhh.....

I'm pretty sure I have this (metabolic syndrome).
Berberine is on my list of things to buy.

Do you recommend any particular brand?

Marnie, I have been reading all your links on berberine. Very interesting. I admit that most of it is so far over my head. But I did understand anti-infamatory. And not really how, but starve the bb.

Are any Llmd's using this?

Anyone here using it? What have you noticed? Good and bad.

I think berberine chloride/HCL (not berberine sulfate) maybe the ideal form.

Source - perhaps:

http://www.amazon.com/GlycoX-250-Berberine-250mg-Capsules/dp/B007CMOLV8/ref=pd_sim_hpc_2

Double the dose is avail. too, but I would start with lower dosages 3x/day and check tolerance (bowel).

Though berberine is not supposed to impact the bowel normal flora, I think it is always important to keep up daily probiotics and vary them (each source contains different "good guys").

Manybites...what do you consider high dosages of berberine/coptis?

That combo. berberine and artemisin is recommended here too:

http://www.crohns.net/Miva/education/articles/powerhealing_leogalland.shtml

My gut instinct is telling me berberine chloride for 1 month, pause for a couple of weeks and resume....keeping this up for TWO years.

For whatever reason, this looks to be the time frame for complete healing - when doing other effective treatments.

Yes...people HAVE recovered using different treatments...."One speed Greg" used a very powerful Rife machine and exercised and ate well. Wildcondor used hyperbaric dives (many and expensive, but likely impact CWD forms) AND IV abx. However she got C. Diff (which is why it is so critical to keep pumping in the "good guys" because we HAVE to protect the health of the bowel.

Recovery IS possible!!! Finding the cheapest/most affordable route for the masses is important.

Be accepting of things/treatments "outside the box". They are worth consideration.
