my doc gave me Amoxy 500 three times a day. Every single time I took it about 2-3 hours later I would get intense skin burning all over. No redness just intense burning.

Allergy or killing Lyme??

It does not cause burning skin in everybody, might have something to do with parasites in your skin?

I took amoxicillin for 2 years and never got this symptom. I think it may be a herx symptom in your case. One of my lyme symptoms was patches of burning skin. And, burning pain is a listed lyme symptom.

I just can't help pointing out the fact that you are on a very low dose of amoxi. From page 18 of Dr. B:

"*Amoxicillin- Adults: 1g q8h plus probenecid 500mg q8h; doses up to 6 grams daily are often needed"

This says the minimum dose is 1000 mg every 8 hours and as much as 2,000 mg 3 times per day is often needed.

Also, because amoxi only stays in the blood a short while, it is to be combined with probenecid. Hope you are also on that. (Page 14 of Dr. B: "Because of its short half-life and need for high levels, amoxicillin is usually administered along with probenecid.")

Since you are getting this burning symptom, you probaby should not try to increase the amoxi at this time. I wouldn't try increasing it until the amoxi no longer caused the burning symptom.

If you see a rash or if you start to swell (especially in lips, etc.) or have trouble breathing, then it could be allergy. Those are the typical allergic reactions, not burning skin sensation.

See this website for a list of side effects of amoxi and symptoms of amoxi allergy:
