I have an upcoming LLMD appointment next week and think I'll probably have to go back on a Bart protocol. I was on a Doxy/Rifampin combo several months ago, but only 100 mg of Doxy and 600 mg of Rifampin. What is the typical dosage of Doxy used in combination with Rifampin? Do you usually take all at the same time? I really don't want to be on Levaquin again, I'll take orange pee vs. the whole host of side effects of that other nasty drug!

What did you experience with Levaquin?

I'm on the same protocol as you right now. I just started. I've been on 200mg of doxy with other various meds for months and recently went off the others and started with 300mg of Rifampin for one week then up to 600 for a week and then a break.

I take doxy twice a day with food and Rifampin once a day EARLY in the morning at about 5:00 a.m.

Worsening of insomnia/depression, back pain, fatigue. The only thing it seemed to improve was my peripheral neuropathy. Thankfully I didn't notice any tendon issues but I was taking at least a gram of magnesium per day.

Any reason you take the Rifampin so early? Also, I didn't think you were supposed to take breaks/pulses while being on Rifampin?

I'm up at that time so I figure I'll let it kick in before work. I didn't think Rifampin was supposed to pulse either, but I have liver enzyme issues so I think that's why my LLMD is pulsing it. Do you know what the dangers of pulsing Rifampin are? I'm not finding much online except increasing the chances of side effects.

No, it's just what I've read about it. I never pulsed it but took a day off here and there when I was feeling really bad and/or lowering the dosage to 300 mg.
