Does this make anyone sleep? Approx 20 mins after hubby starts the infusion, he goes sound asleep. Its not a known side effect that I've found

Some IV antibiotics have made me sleepy towards the end of the infusion. I can't remember if Vanco was one of them, sorry. I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

I'm currently on IV zithromax and it makes me so heavy headed and sleepy. I have a hard time staying away to finish it sometimes.

Are you worried about your husband sleeping? It is pretty boring doing an infusion. That may contribute to the sleepiness.

I figure, we are sick, our bodies can need extra rest. Maybe he needs the little naps during infusion. If he's home alone during infusion, have him set his cell phone alarm for when the infusion should end. That way he will wake up in time to disconnect and flush.

I didn't experience that with Rocephin but I was pretty tired during my tygacil treatments and also I do IVIGG and a couple hours into the treatment I fall asleep and don't really wake up until just before it's ending. The total infusion time is 8 hours and I go 3 days in a row. I've been doing it for a year now and it's getting easier to tolerate then in the beginning for sure.

Not worried about it. More curious I guess.
