I just stopped taking zithromax due to hearing loss and horrible tinnitus. Based on some postings here, I thought it was likely the culprit.
I had been taking mepron and omnicef with the zith. I am waiting for my LLNP to get back to me to tell me what I can substitute for the zith for over a day now. Her receptionist has continually told me that mepron will not work without the zith. I am not sure about that.
What other ABX have you taken to make mepron more effective?

Biaxin works well with Mepron. For me, it works much better than Zithromax.
From what I understand, Mepron needs to be taken with Zithromax, Biaxin, or Ketek. I don't think Ketek is prescribed much any more.

The theory is that babs can become resistant without zith/biaxin.

It looks like the biaxin can also damage my ears. I researched Ketek and that looks a little better for me. Hopefully, we can get a replacement going soon. Thanks for your help.

I had issues with zith, so I had the choice to replace it with omnicef or ceftin. I am on IV clindamycin.
Omnicef gave me severe diarrhea so I am starting ceftin. I also take mepron and just started arteminisin. The latter is kicking my butt.

I think Ketek can be hard on the liver. I am just speculating, but maybe this is why it is not prescribed much any more.

I still haven't heard back from my LLNP. Maybe she is thinking that omnicef and mepron are enough for me right now. Thanks everybody, for your input.
