Manybites once mentioned that her and Dr S(who wrote the book on Bart) would once a week take whatever they were on....
Say 1g Ceftin... and they would take 2g one day out of the week, every week.
I'm currently on.. 1g Ceftin 1g Biaxin 400mg Plaquenil (soon to be Bactrim DS)
My biggest fear, and it's happened before, is I relapsed because I didn't hit Bart/Lyme deep enough in body. So this pulsing high doses theory intrigues me.
Anyone else ever try this? Is there a chance of resistance being built by doing the high doses only once a week and going back down to regular dose?

I don't see how 1 high dose a week could help when Bartonella is known to replicate so fast.
The best known way to build resistance is to stop and start antibiotics and to take doses that are not strong enough to kill. Inadequate treatment = resistance.
This is why it scares me when people decide to pull themselves off their Lyme meds whenever they feel sickish, not a good idea.

That's what I meant... a big hit day. Not stopping the abxs.
