Hi <<<<< Lyme Family >>>>>,

I just finished a second zithromax pack because of a sinus/sore throat infection that didn't want to leave.

They are supposed to keep working for 6 to 10 days a piece after the last caplet. This weekend I noticed my headaches worsening...is this normal?

I figure it could be a herx as well, and we've had some weather changes.

I'm wondering, because I am very limited in what ABX I can take due to allergy reactions.

Thanks for any tho'ts,or info'!

Sinus headache?

I find for sinus issues, a can of Simply Saline to flush the sinus works wonders and decreases my headaches

I have had a sinus infection for months. The main symptom was a terrible sinus headache.

I was given various rounds of antibiotics. The infection never totally went away. The headache would start getting worse in a day or 2 after finishing the antibiotics.

Finally, an ENT got a culture that showed something. As it turns out, the infections I had (three of them) were resistant to the antibiotics I had been given. So, that's why the infection kept coming back.

Reading your post, that is what came to mind. You should not be getting a headache from zith a few days after stopping it.

When you said a sinus infection that didn't want to leave, I had to write and tell you that to my mind it is the infection coming back. Until you get a culture of it, you will not know what antibiotic will cure it.

I went on and on like this for 6 months before the infections showed on a culture.

Now, with the right antibiotic (levaquin, in my case), the headache is gone, gone, gone. I am one happy camper.

Wish you the best.

I'm glad you caught that, TF. I agree. I don't think zith is a good abx for sinus issues either.

Hi <<<<< beths ,and TF >>>>>,

It isn't a normal sinus headache,as far as I know,a part of it is in the side and back of my head.

I do wonder if the infection just isn't going away tho'. I've had these darn infections, and when I think it is going finally it will come back.

Now mentioning Levaquin is odd [Smile] ,PA is not real Lyme Literate, but we talked briefly about LD,and they wondering about if Levaquin might help me.

[I think they are worried about trying to treat w/out a Pos. blood test,I am 'Seronegative'].

Perhaps when payday comes,I can try some Simply Saline as well. I go back to PA in August, will ask about possibly Levaquin.

Pain around my sinuses is common when I get sinus messes, but having trouble figuring why it hurts in the back of head.

My chest keeps tightening/w/soreness a little too, which is beyond annoying, like minor chostocondritis.

Lungs where fairly good when PA checked them...so I am a bit puzzled... pretty certain I have Babseosis too,per the specialist LLND a few years back suspicions.

Anyhows, if this doesn't quit soon,I'll be trying something different. We have to find affordable meds...can talk w/PA about that as well.

Thanks both y'all for replying... gonna get off this for a bit...thunder storms circling here[which isn't helping things].

Daily use of a saline spray can help keep infections away. Or make your own solution and use a bulb syringe or neti pot.

I use Sovereign Silver to keep infections at bay. When I think I'm getting an infection, I use that. It's been very helpful.

After I had to have sinus surgery in 2008, I am SERIOUS about keeping infections out of my life!

<<<<< Lymetoo >>>>>,

Thanks for the info' and ideas, I'll see what I can find for Silver. I think our Fred Meyers[Kroegers] carries Sovereign Silver so we can check prices.

And I should be able to get an inexpensive saline mix/or make it.

I think I bought my last silver spray at Vitacost or Swanson's. Check both. It WAS cheaper than at the stores.

Hey <<<<< Lymetoo >>>>>,

Thanks,we'll check and see if we can get it cheaper thru Vitacost or Swansons'! [Smile]

I've heard about Sovereign Silver, but have only been getting basic Maintenance supplements because of finances.

I appreciate this!

Maybe if you buy more supplements at Vitacost or Swanson's your money will stretch a bit farther!

<<<<< Lymetoo >>>>>,

That's actually a good idea ,have to check the shipping costs etc. as well.

We've been finding out about online coupons a bit too!

There is a nice compounding pharmacy here, that can help sometimes, they give a card, and any purchase over ten, gets 'dotted'[can't think of the word, a punch out spot].

Once the card is full it's like ten dollars off the purchase. Sometimes if there is a problem ordering on line, they can order the product or something equivalent, for not too high a cost on shipping.

So we've been checking a couple different ideas out to stretch dollars. The more ideas the merrier/better !!! [Smile] .

My headache isn't quite as bad today, staying inside mostly tho', odd weather.

I don't think the -Z-pack- kicked the darn sinus infection out, still a bit of a sore throat too. But it seemed to help the skin-tag 'freezer-burn' sites.

I go back next month ,will see what ideas the PA might have. I'm wondering if I could try levaquin,w/o a blood test.

PA doesn't know much about LD and Co's but has heard that Levaquin,Doxy,or amoxy can be of help.I cannot do any penicillin derivatives, and even Doxy is iffy now, last set a few years back I was getting rashes.

Thanks for the ideas! I think y'all specialize in Wonderful especially when we have brain fog/headaches and confusion!.

This is how I have learned to save money buying supplements.

I definitely save more money when I shop online. I only buy at a store when I need something right now, today.

Wait to order all of your supplements online only once a month. When you order multiple products, websites will often give you discounts like 5% (or more!) off on your total order. You will usually qualify for free shipping this way.

Every couple months I do a price check. I will look at iherb, vitacost, and swansons websites to see who has the best prices on the supplements that I need. I don't like to buy from multiple websites, just one.

To do a price check, pick your favorite supplements, put them in your "cart" like you are going to buy them and get a total for the order. Then go to the next website. See which website is currently cheapest. Easier to compare when you have a cart total.

Also, be willing to try new supplement brands. This can save you money. You may also find a new favorite brand!

Hope this helps you my friend [Smile]

Updating :

Sorry,I am so behind,I tho't I was at the head of the line here...

Z-pack didn't work, and now I have a dental issue as well as the headache...Oy...!

They are trying another ABX for me [to many allergies],because of the dental problem, which I'll find out more about,on Thur. next.

If this one doesn't stop the problems,PA will RX that Levaquin. PA [who lost a friend to untreated Lyme], was concerned that the Levaquin might be too strong.

My P.A. told us that it is really frustrating, as their hands are tied as to treating the Lyme and such, that the Doctors medical folk don't want to admit, can be a problem here.

ABX I am on now seems plenty strong...myriad issues w/it, especially "IBS", trying to keep hydrated. Was supposed to take 4 caps a day, have had to stay at 2 caps, as I don't really want to go to ER.

Will report back on the Dentists findings after next Thurs.appt. If I can think enough to type. I figure some of this malaise, 'IBS', joint pain etc. is plain ol' herxing.

AM watching for any allergy signs, per pharmacists recommend.

BBL...jus' Silversliverwolfi

Hi <<<<< manybites >>>>>,

Thanks for the reply and the info',didn't know that about the Z-packs and the Bart'.

A couple of areas hurt w/ the teeth, the lump surprised me,cause it was aching on the gum, upper right front area.

I have a tooth lower right that is more 'cap'/crown than tooth,it tends to hurt, around it, most all the time.

And upper right, again, where I had a back tooth pulled about a decade back, is always tender.

Then I have two broken fillings bottom left ,and one top left broken filling. Those are getting really tender.

So I was excited to learn the clinic I go to [low cost slide fee],has a dentist,it's an hour from home...but, I hope, will be worth it.

I need to research the FL1953, this sinus mess seems to be chronic.

The specialist I saw in '06',was sure I have Babseosis, as well.but not enough money for all the tests.

Until this time,I had not had any heart issues w/ the Z-pack, this time...it woke me up at night beating extra, and extra hard...then the *MVP weird sloppy slosh and thud.

I mentioned the *heart issue to PA, it was better, but my lungs were not filling up fully rt.lung damage from a surgery ], I about passed [out, really faint when I had to breathe deeply.

PA didn't like that, said I was awfully pale [this was Tuesday].

Thanks again for the info' and reply.

Jus' Silverwolfi...
